Lucas isn't struggling. He carried the team in the first half. He played his best half this season but someone should tell Gerrard that it is time to show up. If he isn't better than this then he isn't worth even £50k a week.

It's no tactical masterplan it's playing a system to suit the players available, we should have done it home to Southampton and we will probably continue with it until he had full backs to choose.

He learned his lesson after Southampton and we were much improved last night. This formation suits the players we have available now, but could easily revert to the old 4-3-3 variant with Toure at right back if he feels it's not working in a particular game.

The sooner Cissokho and Johnson are fit the better though.

It doesn't at all for me. Cup football is about getting through. No one remembers how well you played. Obviously it gives you hope that we're going in the right direction perhaps, but I'm not convinced we played all that well.

In the end this game was almost totally meaningless because football is all about money now.

Even if we had won the COC then it wouldn't have improved Rodgers chance to stay. FSG have already pointed that out when they sacked Kenny.

If you look at it as a fan then the game meant a lot and the winning the cup would have meant a lot.

I can understand that fans lose interest because money means more than winning the domestic cups.

It shouldn't be that way.

If it was possible then the winner of the COC and the winner of the FA cup should get a place in the CL.

Then only big clubs would qualify for it and the domestic cups would be much more important.

I don't think it needs a carrot of CL football to make it attractive. Its a trophy and there aren't many available to win each season. I don't want to become arsenal, qualifying for a trophy they won't win and ****ing up their chances of winning something that is attainable.

Sturridge badly needs a rest and it's starting to show in his game performance at the moment. Thought we played well last night and we're very unlucky to not get at least a draw, mancs still look **** but have better options then us at the moment. No excuses in the league now.

I think that Sturridge certainly needs a rest but also Lucas and Gerrard both look knackered by the end of every game, I would have liked us to have rested at least 2 of those 3 for this game. However Rodgers doesn't seem to be a manager who likes rotating. Which I think will be a problem for us later in the season.
