I am at the dilemma stage now that we hve played Palace - do I count the comparative game as last seasons game against the team that came up via the play off or do I leave it as I have done so far?

I think you sub the relegated three for the promoted three, in line with their finishing positions. I.e. Bottom of prem = play off winner etc.
