Dear oh dear. I guess it would be fairer if a high spending favourite won it rather than a complete outsider. This season has been a breath of fresh air for the league, it's proved that money doesn't guarantee success and that honourable characteristics such as determination, desire and passion can prevail. If Liverpool win the league this season then they will be the most deserving winners in PL history. Before the season started most pundits fancied Spurs above Liverpool. There are a large number of positive articles that are creditting Liverpool correctly but this trickle of sour grapes articles is laughable. The journalist responsibly should be a tad embarrassed at himself

Alonso: I'm thrilled by Liverpool surge
                  23rd Apr 2014 - Latest News

The excitement surrounding Liverpool's 11-match winning streak extends beyond Merseyside to Spain, where former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso is watching on with equal happiness.

Brendan Rodgers' team downed Norwich City 3-2 on Sunday to extend their advantage at the summit of the Barclays Premier League to five points, with three games left to navigate.

Now at La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid, after spending five productive seasons at Anfield - where he lifted the Champions League and FA Cup - Alonso has not lost interest in his old club.

In fact, the 32-year-old has described the Reds' scintillating form as 'thrilling', revealing his pleasure at what may unfold for teammates from the past such as Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva.

Asked if he keeps track of Liverpool's fortunes, Alonso told SI.com: "Absolutely, absolutely. Whenever I'm not on work duty, I keep an eye on the Reds. I'm really excited.

"It's thrilling what's happening in the city right now. What they are doing at the moment is so admirable, the players, the coaches.

"11 wins in a row is a massive achievement, and they are so close to winning the league for the first time in 24 years.

"So I'm really looking forward to it and happy for the ones I know like Stevie and Lucas, the ones I played with there."

It's all die hard spurs and arsenal (with a good few West Ham and a few from most other clubs) where I live and every single one has said they hope we win it, we've showed everyone that you can win the prem without unlimited cash., And entertained by playing the best football. Other than a few die hard Manures I know (through wrk) who have all said they wld much rather city won it!!

No one will be talking about Chelsea if we beat them, there's a huge recency effect in football and given palace's run if form it's a treasure trove for imaginative writers.
