Absolutely gutted. It's not in our hands anymore.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Otherwise it was great feeling those title race emotions of 24 years ago so thanks for that.
Like it. Some of us go back (erm...quite a bit) further than 24 years. It was, in footy terms, bliss - we just kept on winning games. Something was wrong with the universe if we didn't.

We could still win it this year - we just can't control it anymore.

The chavs and their cnut of a manager did what they had to.

        They did it well.

        No complaints.

        Man up.

        We go again.

I'm about to be slightly melodramatic by some people's estimations, so sorry in advance.

I admire all the positivity some people have, but I just can't buy into it, or at least not yet. This is absolutely gutting. I was either crying or on the verge of tears all of yesterday. My non-football supporting significant other tried his best to take my mind off it but nothing worked.

Feels like we always fail in the most dramatic fashion and it's utterly deflating. My uncle and I usually text all throughout every match but he couldn't even talk to me yesterday. My aunt posted on my Facebook telling me he was inconsolable as well.

Another thing that adds salt to the wound is how this mistake might tarnish Gerrard's reputation among football fans in general. Although we will always remember him for all the amazing things he's done, you just know everyone else will jeer us and mock him for the fact that he made such a critical mistake. He has done enough in his career to earn the worldwide respect that players like Messi, Pirlo, Zidane, and others have enjoyed. He doesn't deserve the taunting in the slightest and I've really taken it to heart. It's insane as I don't know him personally but football makes you love some players as if they were an old friend or a close relative, or even revere them as a leader or saviour of some sort.

I'm afraid of getting my hopes up especially with the chances so slim because there have been countless times in the past when the odds were in our favour and we still managed to blow it somehow. People point to Istanbul but can lightning really strike twice?

I dunno. Nobody knows. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I dunno Marina. I understand exactly where you're coming from I really, really do, but we've had so much to put up with over the last 5 years and I have personally over the last couple I really cannot think of the season as a negative.

It is heartbreaking if you think of it like that but to do so is to betray all the hardwork and inspiration Brendog and the team have put in this year. Winning the league would have been nothing short of a footballing miracle. It still might happen, but if it doesn't we've still performed amazingly.

Believe me, I take these things far too personally but you can't always, it ****s up your life too much. There's so much in life and in football that can get you down. At some point you gotta just say "**** it" and enjoy the beauty and forget the tragedy.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Appreciate your attitude and the fact that you haven't said something condescending like "Stop being dramatic" or "Turrah, love" in response.

I know you're right and I really could do with some more rationality. It's been a great season all things considered. At the start of the season, 2nd place would have been an absolute dream.

Your perspective is great, but football is a lot more emotional than many other things in life, isn't it? Haha.

I think City will **** up in one of their final three. Say us and City swapped fixtures for this weekend. How confident would you be of a a win at Goodison? They've beaten Chelsea,Utd and Arsenal at home without conceding and only a late equaliser saved our skin there. I'd be ****ting it at the prospect of going there.A City win is far from being a forgone conclusion. I think the bookies have it right odds wise. I'm far more confident now than I was 24 hours ago.

The palace game is where I think we will struggle vasnd that's why I think we had to try and win yesterday. Monday night, mental fans, long balls, long throws, pace on the wings, **** pitch, its the sort of game we hate. I was looking at a draw being good enough before yesterday. We are certainly capable of winning but need sturridge fit.

If City **** up the day before then we go into our game with a second shot at the title. I can't see us ****ing that up. Suarez will win it for us on his own and can you imagine what Gerrard will like in that game. There's no way they'd let it slip a second time imo.

I expect City to win all of theirs by a couple of goals at least and I think we'll drop more points. I just think we are desperate and our momentum has disappeared with Sunday. And if City drop a couple of points against Everton, we're less likely to win against Palace, if that makes sense.

I expect us to win both of our games and I think City could easily lose points in any of their three remaining games. If we end our season on 86 points and City do the same, but they win on goal difference then fair play to them. We need to focus on our bit.

I think we may **** up at Palace, not if they set up like they did with City though. It was an odd performance quite un-Pulis. Hope they don't react for us.

I just checked and we're still top of the league!

                              Two games to go.
