Whilst Barry won't play (I think he's handy enough and seems to be important for Everton this season), Lukaku should have something to prove vs. City. Fingers crossed. Luckaku.

Anyway, fans have short memories, I can remember certain times when fans on here we're hoping we would be beaten to prevent united winning the league in recent seasons, it's all fan talk. I cannot for the life of me see Everton not wanting to win this weekend, to think otherwise is just us fans being paranoid.

I am one of the most emotional people you'll ever meet across the board - including girls. Maybe that's why I was born to support this (allegedly) most sentimental of clubs, I dunno.Originally posted by Marina View PostAppreciate your attitude and the fact that you haven't said something condescending like "Stop being dramatic" or "Turrah, love" in response.
I know you're right and I really could do with some more rationality. It's been a great season all things considered. At the start of the season, 2nd place would have been an absolute dream.
Your perspective is great, but football is a lot more emotional than many other things in life, isn't it? Haha.
All I am saying is I have been there- amongst other things, the crap under G&H & the sacking of Rafa, instillation of Bodge, losing our best players etc got to me and, coupled with various serious real life things, put me in a bad place, which in turn had an effect of driving away the parts of my life I shouldve been grateful for & relied .
I know it can be really, really hard - I didnt sleep right for a week (even by my standards of sleeping right, which are pretty ****ing low) when we sold Xabi cos I knew it'd affect our performances massively (as it did), so I know where you're coming from. But you shoudnt let it affect the really important stuff like relationships, family, mates, job & your peace of mind too badly cos they are all far more important, however much you love LFC.

FWIW he's right though - man up!

3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Should we also hope that Kompany doesn't have the World Cup in mind when coming up against his team mate, or does that flip theory not suit your negative approach?!

I don't think its a laughing matter at all. I'm still seething with anger. I'm pleased you have a daughter that can take your mind off it all, I don't, if I did perhaps I would be in your boat. People react differently and rightly or wrongly this result is eating me up. If we don't win the league it will be months before I properly get over it. I don't see the need to laugh at fellow fans.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostSorry but some of you are being hilariously melodramatic about all this
Shankly's famous quip was wrong, football is not more important than life and death. Take some time to reflect and see it's just a tiny part of your life. It's not healthy to obsess to this extent.
After the final whistle the other day I felt horrendous. I wandered out into the garden where my little two year old daughter was happily playing. With the sun on my face I watched her play and the angst just drifted away. As much as we love it, as much as it's a part of our lives, it's only football.
It's not over yet, but should we fail to win the league this season and I'll be doing my damnedest to keep the disappointment to a minimum. We have so much to be proud of

Everyone needs to chill the **** out, the game is over now, we can not change the result. We are top of the league with two games to go, City are third with three games to go. Trust me, it's time to focus some positive energy on the remaining two games, shake it off ffs, we go again, we are Liverpool, and we are top of the league and we will be top of the league on May 12th.

Kompany has a massive trophy he can win though, the other is just training for the world cup.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostShould we also hope that Kompany doesn't have the World Cup in mind when coming up against his team mate, or does that flip theory not suit your negative approach?!

I'm now going into these final games expecting only what i normally would in such games as there are left, and that is wins for City and wins for us.
I felt we had to win all our games to take it, and we haven't done that.
I now hope for something.....unexpected.

Fwiw I think that city will drop 2 points out of 9 However, we have to get 6 from 6. Palace is going to be a tough game, there are no guarantees in football. I believe that the loss against Chelsea was a kick in the ass reminder of that. City will not beat Everton and we will Win against Palace and Newcastle.

****ing thisOriginally posted by James P View PostAbsolutely spot on. I love football and I love LFC, but there are so many things that are more important. I was pissed off for about half an hour, but then my three little ones distracted me and I stopped being massively bothered.
I'm honestly wondering if half of what is posted is a wind up. Jesus
If people are genuinely this heartbroken, this tortured, this suicidally grief stricken, then you need some perspective in your lives
SplendidOriginally posted by James P View PostI think a sense of.....perspective is required by a fair few on here.
I was talking to a couple of Chelsea fans at work today, and they were being surprisingly reasonable and circumspect. They are as gutted as us because had they won just one of the games against Sunderland, Palace or Villa they'd have the title in their hands. Same can be said of Man City and their draw against Sunderland and defeat to us in a game that most of us agree they should have won. The fact that it's all still in the balance means we're still in it, not out of it.
A few observations:
The media are dicks. Claiming that we have thrown the title away is utterly ridiculous. Throwing it away is what Newcastle did in the 90s when they blew a lead of a dozen points or so. Getting 33 out of the last 36 points is almost the polar opposite of throwing it away.
At the start of this season we were in year 2 of a 5 year plan. Champions League was an aspiration but not essential to Brendan's position. We've scored goals for fun, won a huge number of games, played amazing football, not just secured CL but avoided the qualifying rounds. We're still right in the title race with just two games to go. If anyone had offered us this in August, or for that matter in February, we'd have bitten their hand off. We've got a young team full of really talented players and one of the best young managers in the world, and I think that years 3 to 5 of the plan are looking incredibly exciting.
In the middle of the last decade we were part of the big 4 who always qualified for the CL. That changed in 2009 and we were in the wilderness for five years. Now we're back, but not just scrapping for fourth, we're back challenging for top spot. I think we have a manager and team to stay there, and to win this thing in the next few years.
Add to all that the fact that Arsenal are a team in decline and United are a team in utter disarray, and to me there is way more to celebrate than to be miserable about right now.
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

We are doing things for the long term and Ive never enjoyed being LFC fan so much in a long time.
We are back in the CL on a shoestring and I fancy us to do damage there too
Gerrard said Rodgers will go onto to be a world class manager for us.
Im happy
That's the spirit my boy!! You sir have opened box number 19 and it contained 'only' £75k. That's still £75k!!!
