If City only draw with Villa, than the pressure on them on Sunday will be massive and they could in turn draw that one too.

It's only a minor chance for us but City still need to go out and get 4 points from two games. Hopefully some of their players will be complacent on Wednesday and start slowly then **** it up.

If we won tonight City play differently on Wednesday, no guarantee results that follow would be the same. Much the same that the two quick goals tonight made us chase the impossible dream of bringing back the goal difference. Had we been just two up a longer period, that game may have finished that way.

All in all, we did screw it up but our definition of success this season was to finish fourth.

The lowest we can finish is 3rd which means automatic qualification and we're still in with (an extremely improbable) chance at winning the league.

Rodgers has always maintained that he first wanted to instill his ideas into the team. Then work on our attack, then our retention.

We've overachieved and I think he was expecting us to do a lot better next season once we'd have worked on retention and defence.

Anyway, we've made a bucket load of cash and gained a lot of prestige and plaudits this season which makes us an attractive destination for top players this summer transfer window.

We'll have another go next season but with a better squad and European nights to look forward to!
