Rogers is completely unproven at this level, has had a very hit and miss career, and many would argue that his success at Swansea came from the foundations and philosophies laid down by Martinez. Laudrup came along and improved that side in his first season, winning their first piece of silverware and taking them into Europe.
He makes a habit of making very mediocre purchases, the players he's apparently missed out on have also been very poor. He did very well with Coutinho, Mignolet and Sturridge, but on the whole I've been uninspired. Letting Carroll leave without a replacement was an idiotic mistake. I'm really not impressed with the last round of transfers either, Sakho, Cissoko, Aspas, Ilori and Alberto is a massive sum and not one of them is anywhere near world class. Sakho is the only one there who I feel has potential, but he's too prone to making mistakes imo.
Then we have the younger players like Sterling who's regressing at a rate of knots as is Allen and Kelly, and the talented Suso has been sent out on loan, which may prove to be a good move but at the moment I think we'd be stronger with him here, learning from the likes of Coutinho.
I've seen nothing from him to inspire confidence.
