In defence we need a left back, a right back and Sakho needs to play. Agree with the majority, that he should probably play with Skrtel.
I don't think Skrtel talks enough to his defensive partner to be the senior centre back.....Sakho might be the leader but probably not yet.....
I'd give Sakho - Toure a go.....

Quick thoughts -
Neither Skrtel or Agger are good enough, I'd sell one in Jan and the other in the summer.
Flanagan was average, offers nothing going forward, couple of reckless lunges for tackles and his speed and angle of approach for 1v1 defending is poor. But he is wholehearted and a local lad so worth persevering with as a squad player.
Joe Allen was decent, gave the ball away needlessly at times but that seemed to be more down to lack of match fitness than anything else.
Sterling was poor up until 2-0, from then on he looked a much better, more confident player. The goal will help him a lot.
As for Suarez, I didn't get to see John Barnes play live but Suarez has to be the best individual player to play for us.
Easily the best player in the PL and up there in the world's top 5 on current form. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Agree completely on Suarez..... He would make any team in the world better......we are lucky to have him
People go on about Real Madrid buying him in the summer but in reality, Barca would be ****in incredible if they had a front line of Messi Suarez and Neymar
I'm not sure we will be able to keep Luis here to be honest but I hope to **** we do....

Forgot Alberto, he looked very good in his little word up role, found space through rotation well and looks to be someone who can carry the ball as well as pass it.
Also good to see Rodgers pick Sterling again, would have been easy to drop him to sub and play Moses. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

certainly if there is an opportunity to cash in on one of them in January then defo do it - personally at present i'm not arsed which one lol. I think a lot of our problems at CB has been due to having 4 'first' teamers with arguments to start and rodgers has tried to chop and change it
but unless we have serious cash in the summer, then i'd keep whoever don't sell and strenghten more important areas first
My hope would be that - Sakho and one of Skrtel/Agger become a good solid first choice partnership and then Toure offers some experienced cover, and hopefully come the summer young Wisdom can come back even better from his loan spell and be pushing for a place.
Sakho
Skrtel/Agger
Toure -experienced cover
Wisdom - young up and coming future star pushing for a place
Re Flanagan - he's never going to be a top first choice full back
but he's the type of player you need and want in around the squad providing he's happy doing this role and he keeps up the effort.
Hate to say it, but United under ferguson were brilliant at it.....over the years they have had **** loads of players that you look at and think...how is he at United.
Wes Brown
Evans
O Shea
Butt
first few that come to mind.....and then you realise it's how they have been managed
They've come through the ranks, they are united through and through and they are prepared to be 'squad' players cause they love the club so much. They'll sit on the bench week in/week out waiting for their odd game, when they come in and perform out of their skins. To them they love United so much that they would rather be a small fish in a big pond playing a little part than be a big fish in a small pond
to be honest - for Liverpool, i'd do the same, certainly for a few years - playing 50 times over 4/5 seasons at liverpool would mean more to me than playing 200 times over the same period but for Aston Villa
i think it's important to have a small core of local/youth players coming through who can fill that role. - Of a decent enough standard that when called upon they don't let you down, but at the same time they are prepared to wait for their chance. It's very difficult to get it right tho - as i say, Ferguson was brilliant at it.
Ok they might not have as much ability as other squad players signed from abroad - but they will have more commitment and loyalty than them.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
