Don't mean to keep having digs at Gerrard/Lucas, but this time we have a more fluid midfield. The 3/5 formation might actually work as long as all players carry on running and one of the defenders has enough nouse to push into midfield when only marking one striker.
    One tit for another.

The article is right about a defining victory under Rodgers reign. There haven't been any stand out results. Its great to beat Everton & Utd but we've never had much of an issue in the past of raising our game for those teams. Its great we're finally disposing of the cannon fodder at home, for so long our Achilles Heel, now we're ****ing up against the big boys. Typical. I liken it to Englands test team, now is the time to be brave, not go back into our shell. Let them worry about us. Don't go back to a lazy 5 at the back as the dilemma of getting the centre backs a game rears its ugly head. Have Coutinho and Sterling wide to stop their full backs and let Luis do his magic. A feeble defeat without troubling them will have me pulling my hair out. I almost expect a **** performance. Let me be wrong.

But big-game struggles are nothing new in the recent history of Anfield managers.
Or most managers really, what is it this season 1 away victory out of 17 games between the big/good teams? Tottenhams "famous win" at Old Trafford last season didnt do much for them in the end did it? Dont really get the obsession with it. They're great to win but hardly the end of the world if we dont, Arsenal got 11 points from 36 against "the big six" last season yet got top 4.

Yet if they'd won more they could have finished higher. To win titles you need to beat the top teams, usually.

My frustration is Spurs away is always a cunt of a fixture.

Speculations are that we'll be playing

                  Mignolet
                  Johnson Skrtel Sakho Agger Flanagan
                  Lucas Allen Henderson
                  Coutinho
                  Suarez

If that is the lineup we really could have defensive problems with Spurs and I'm not sure we have enough creativity to win the game.

That'd be the team for me. No chance like.

Its not as bad as Skrtel at right back against Bale, but it has defeat written all over it.

Staggered at the rumoured 3 at the back.
Spurs will tear us apart in wide areas, image Walker and Lennon or Townsend vs an unprotected Flanagan.
Also baffled at Sterling being left out, he's coming back to form and his pace and movement against probably Naughton at left back would have been a real match winning opportunity for us.

This feels as bad as the 4 centre backs did before Southampton
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I'm a proponent of three at the back (relatively speaking, at least) and I don't think it consigns us to defeat at all...but I must say I don't understand the logic behind doing it now. See no reason for Stevie's absence to prompt that change, really.

Hopefully at least having one of Sakho/Agger in the middle will give the three a different look than the last time we tried it, as both of them (Sakho especially) seem much more comfortable stepping into midfield than Skrtel.

Suarez has only scored 3 of his 15 goals away from home, we have scored 12 of our 34 goals away and conceded 13 of our 18 against.

So we have conceded more than we have scored away from home.

Plus Gerrard is joint top in the league for assists and is out injured.

Spurs are starting to find form although as the media keep saying Suarez has scored more goals than the total scored by Spurs so far. It's probably a good time to play them if we can put a dampener on their rise in form but it would be a bad loss to take and bad timing.

We need to get over our away day blues this month if we don't want to undo the good work up to now.

It's essential that we don't lose this one because I think Chelsea and Man City will be much harder. Man City are rampant at home, like us, and Mourinho still has an unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge. Man I would love us to break that record for him!!

I'm excited and nervous, this is a really important game.
