I haven't read all the comments, but there is nothing to say on this game really. Our game is based around pressing and we simply didn't have the legs for it. Add to the fact Chavs can change things round and they looked the better for it.
Credit to our side for not letting their heads go down and in all reality with a braver ref we leave with a point. But our midfield today was like the early season performances where teams tore through us at will. Just couldn't close them down.
Hull will be a big test. They're fresh from a 6-0 stroll at home to Fulham and with an extra days rest whilst we go into it with the squad cracking at the seams after chasing two close games over Xmas all too the last minute.
Rodgers needs to wrap the players in cotton wool until Wednesday and get them fired up mentally for the second half of the season.
We have played 9 of the top eleven sides away from home and gathered 36 points so we are well in this.
Pass the test on Wednesday and we are back on course...home form is the key and from what i've seen we should fear no one.
C'mon redmen !
On another note, we've had a good home record as we've been playing ****e teams. Depends how you look at it. Keep smashing teams at home mind and we will challenge for the title.
Don't want to have a pop at the team as we've been doing really well and bar some poor refereeing the past two games we could, and should have been in a much better position however today was one of the worst defensive displays I've seen by us.
I know BR wants us playing out from the back but today Chelsea pressed very high up the field with lots of intensity causing the midfield and defense to lose the ball often and make mistakes. I cannot understand why when in a pressurised scenario that a player cannot just get rid, boot it out, boot it up the pitch or knock it back to the keeper even instead of ****ing around with it. We can dick around with the ball and do all our fancy one touch passing **** higher up the pitch where it matters not in our back third, it's ****ing ludicrous stuff to watch, painful at times.
We're not Barcelona FFS, we don't have the skills or muscle anywhere in that team to keep the ball and ping it around unless we're playing against dross. And the lack of depth in the squad, needs addressing big time.
I think that loss the other night was like a real big boot in the bollocks for the lads, some of them look tired today, others disinterested and I can understand why.

Chavs had extra days rest, some didn't play on Boxing Day. That was why we couldn't cope when they swarmed all over us. We needed the early goal and then needed to shut up shop for a bit. We didn't and they caught us on the break. Had we showed a bit of steel v City & Chavs we'd have waked away with 6 points and picked of both on the break.

This uncomfortable dithering on the ball at the back when pressed high is incredibly frustrating.. just get the ball out of dodge ffs! We do not have the defenders that are comfortable enough or technically good enough at the back to play the ball around.
Also Mignolet is pretty terrible with the ball at his feet & his distribution is poor. Until we get players that can do a Barca and stroke the ball around the back line i do wish we'd get ****ing get rid!
Lot of people on here were bit over confident about this game, i was wary of this one as Chelsea do have the potential to dismantle teams. Two losses on the bounce but we are still in there... we just need a couple of back to back wins now.
Disgusting refereeing by Webb & horrible decisions against City, lets hope that decisions balance themselves out of a season. Anyways sure we didn't deserve to win today regardless of Webb.
That is 2 mistakes in 2 games by Mignolet slightly worrying, as for Webb that could have been a straight red for Eto'o That was a stonewall penalty and if the 1st offense had been a yellow the peno would have been a red
Worrying is the number of injuries squad starting to look paper thin , strange bringing on Smith instead of Alberto need 3 points against Hull
