26 Years it took the Mancs to win the League

I remember sitting in the corner of the Main Stand towards the away end blatantly taking the piss out of the them shouting the number 26 whilst giving them the two fingered salute when they visited Anfield back in the day when they had a team consisting of load of no marks.

How long is it since we won the league -17/18 years?

My personal belief is that we are going down the same route and I wouldn’t be surprised if we surpassed 26 year mark it took them to win the league.

    What do you think?

I think we have the basis of a chamionship winning side. I would compare us to the Mancs two seasons ago when players like Ronaldo weren't firing and the defence were making errors. They had nearly all the ingredients to challenge but they needed time for some players to bed in and to make some slight changes (such as getting rid of RvN who offered them too little movement up front) and now they are ready to challenge.

People seem very keen to write off most of this summers signings yet I think Pennant and Gonzalez will come good and Palletta needs time before we even try to judge him. I think that Bellamy has the talent but like Owen used to needs a run in the team to get up to pace/form and we won't be able to give him that, so I'm afraid unless Crouch or Kuyt get injured he will be seen as a failure with us. It's a shame as a pacy mobile striker may well be one of the ingredients missing from our side.

Don't want to get into another Pennant debate as there have been loads recently, but I was never convinced by him either before he joined us and I'm still not now.

I hope you mean Premiership winning side.

It's all a bit negative at the moment, we lost away v arse, we'll that's nothing new we have the last 2 years.

In fact since Rafa arrived, we were beat away by Bolton, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton in 04/05

And in 05/06 we we beat Everton, drew with bolton, and lost to Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal

So we've hardly had a massive step backward we just haven't been able to move forwards. I know the performances haven't been brilliant, but I think there's big issue over confidence at the moment.

Let's wait and see what our home performances against those teams are like, then we might have a truer idea of our actual level rather than the unfair representation we have at the moment.

I think it took Awex Fergusson 6 or 7 seasons to win the premiership, so I won't be panicking just yet

Does that mean that GH would have won it this year? <ducks>

I think the culminative effect of having those results bunched right at the beginning of the season has been terribly damaging though.

I was thinking the same thing on Sunday, but I honestly do not believe we will wait 26 years like Manure did.
We will do it on 25 YEARS just to piss the mancs off

The trouble is we need a Premiership winning side!

It has, but now we a lot of winnable games to repair that damage
