For me Rodgers got it wrong from the start and while I'm not a fan of early first half subs I thought it was clear what we needed to do, and I'm somewhat disappointed that we didn't make the change earlier.
The game itself just highlighted all our defensive frailties, it is clear that Gerrard isn't a DM, he made mistake after mistake today in that role (and last week at Stoke), it was something Rodgers wanted to try and clearly it didn't work. Now we should abandon it. Defensively we are poor, it is now obvious that Toure is a 4th choice CB, he is nowhere near the player he looked when we first signed him. Cissokho is a poor player and was terrible today, so many times he went missing upfield. and we had no-one covering that side of the pitch, it's not even as if he offers enough going forward, he offers nothing, in fact he looks uncomfortable when he gets the ball, and spent much of the game just standing on the touchline watching the game. Mignolet while a good shot stopper it is obvious that he has areas of his game that need addressing.
Good post.

I'm probably on a few people's ignore list already about my views on Gerrard but today offered few surprises. I was over the moon we beat Stoke as commodating Sturridge/Suarez while ensuring Stevie a place in the team would break us open in the middle. A point against Villa feels like three to me.
I love Stevie but if today's dropped points means lessons finally learnt then this game has been invaluable. Almost a turning point in the season. Top four still beckons. One tit for another.

Wasn't great really, first half was a pile of steaming hot horse **** and one of the worst displays by I us I've seen (the last one being against Hull away).
Second half better but too sloppy, disjointed. TBH the team looked ****ed first half really drained and lacking in any kind of impoteus and drive.
Got to improve, if we play like that against Everton we'll get bummed, good and hard.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I saw it differently for me the reason we were so poor in the first half was just that we were out numbered in midfield and had no DM to win the ball, we were simply overrun in midfield and couldn't get our attacking players into the game.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostWasn't great really, first half was a pile of steaming hot horse **** and one of the worst displays by I us I've seen (the last one being against Hull away).

I agree
I think it was all about Rodgers getting the setup wrong.!

Rogers defo got the set-up wrong and I think was arrogant in his selection and was trying to impress Henry with his ultra attacking formation and win convincingly but it completely backfired and cost us 3 points.
As for the back 4 jesus christ
Johnson was lethargic Skrtel and Toure should never play together and Cissokho was utter ****e
Worryingly is Coutinho's dip in form which is not been helped by been played out of position
Gerrard is not and never will be a DM sooner Rogers realizes it the better totally at fault for the 2nd goal.
Fingers crossed Sakho is back soon along with Enrique, to strengthen the defence.
Rogers did realize his mistake and changed things at half time but it was too late and then the injury to Lucas really cost us. Need to buy a DM as soon as possible given that Lucas could be out for an extended period."All I'll ever do is all I've ever done in any job, and that's promise to fight for my life for the supporters and the people of the city"

I disagree. We didn't need a DM to keep the ball and actually pass to each other. Other teams seem to play perfectly well in triangles and have people running ahead. We seemed to **** ourselves with the ball which led to hoofs upfield.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI saw it differently for me the reason we were so poor in the first half was just that we were out numbered in midfield and had no DM to win the ball, we were simply overrun in midfield and couldn't get our attacking players into the game.
It's time to have players on the pitch that aren't scared of receiving the ball like Alberto and Allen.
PS. I thought Allen played well when he come on.Was muß, das muß.
