Something that's struck me recently is the players awareness of where each other are. As long as I've watched us there has been a certain amount of aimless clearing headers, clearances towards nobody in particular, moments where we'd be crowded out in midfield and lose the ball. There's absolutely none of that with this team. We turn tough situations into rapid counter attacks or retain the ball unbelievably well. In fact the tighter the teams marks us the more we seem to thrive. I can't believe how good we are

The play right before the final whistle between GJ, Skrtel and Lucas was unbelievable. Appreciate it was at the death with us 4 up, but still. It was like a training session whereby you're 3 on 3 and only allowed one touchOriginally posted by wiw View PostSomething that's struck me recently is the players awareness of where each other are. There is far more short passes from defence out also, even when it looks like an attacker might get there, we're panicking a lot less than (as you said too) we've always done in the past
None of which helps my fragile state of mind watching, but ****ing good fun nonetheless
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

That intricate passing under pressure in high risk areas is the result of a lot of practice and a lot mistakes which have previously cost us points.
But Brendan's obviously stuck to his guns, taken it on the chin and seen it through.
Were the dropped points worth it in the long term? Of course, but that's not how many saw them at the time.Oh I don't know.

If we lose the title by a point or 2 I will certainly think about that afternoon at The Hawthorns!Originally posted by dom9 View PostThat intricate passing under pressure in high risk areas is the result of a lot of practice and a lot mistakes which have previously cost us points.

Or Sterling's disallowed goal. Or a fortunate decision that went the the way of City or Chelsea. Was there a dodgy one at Everton too?Originally posted by Tee View PostIf we lose the title by a point or 2 I will certainly think about that afternoon at The Hawthorns!
There are 38 games in a season. We've reached perfection regularly, and smashed teams left right and centre. But mistakes happen, individually by players and referees. It happens. To everyone.Oh I don't know.

Those refereeing decisions at Chelsea and City though
We were good value for at least a draw in each of those games.
To think of the position we'd have been in now - 6 points ahead of Chelsea, 8 points ahead of City.
I'm sure they could also point to decisions that likely cost them and I know it's pointless looking back, but still

It's brilliant to watch. Our football is so fluid yet purposeful. Another thing that struck me is how comfortable on the ball each player on the field was. Never seen Skrtel so at ease on the ball, whether marauding forward with it or finding a teammate under pressure.Originally posted by wiw View PostSomething that's struck me recently is the players awareness of where each other are.
