Yeah, a nice introduction back to Champions League football whilst getting points on the table at home.

Yep, I think we're going to find it difficult to juggle this and the league. I also think we'll need a tune up in Europe. We'll be a bit rusty and have lots of players who've never played in the competition before.

I suppose factors like that are why signing the odd experienced player like Ashley Cole might actually make sense.

I want the easiest group possible. We can save the big teams for the semi and the final

We need 'easier' teams. For the 14/15 season we are losing a big points season in terms of ranking so we won't really change position much on our own merit. Getting wins and ranking points on the board and qualification for latter stages is vital - quarter finals minimum for the next 2 years should get us back to pot 2, 3 years for pot 1.

Testing the team is all well and good short term but realistically we need long term plans

Weakest links out of those pots IMO:

Pot 1: Benfica, Porto
Pot 2: Schalke,Shaktar,Basel,Zenit
Pot 3: Bate,Salzburg,Steau,Celtic,Anderlecht.

No doubts we'll get a ****ing nightmare draw!

Tell me about it, seems soooooooo long since we last had those nights, I think I just took them for granted in the end and the shock of then not seeing CL all of a sudden

I was just looking at the stats for last season and in our games last season there was an average of FOUR goals per game (for and against). Ridiculous entertainment value that!

I think if we take that approach into the Champions League next season our European fanbase is going to soar a bit like Dortumnd's has!
