I know he didn't. But none of us knew that when the team arrived out for the second half . You see Lucas come out and you assume he's going to be playing his usual role. It soon became apparent he wasn't and he was excellent at what he was asked to do.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one thinking that he'd be playing ahead of Gerrard? He played there before he got injured, again because Allen wasn't fit. I doubt we'll see Lucas again in that role unless Gerrard isn't on.

Yeah he did. But in the heat of the game all I saw was an attacking midfielder was gone and a usually defensive midfielder was in. I just thought it was strange at the time before it became apparent what was going on.

I was a bit like that when Lucas came on wasn't sure where he was playing but Johnson did need support on the right & Lucas,Henderson & Sterling bossed things in the middle of the park after our second goal.

I thought Kolo did great when he came on.

If we win the league Toure will have won the PL with three different clubs, has anyone done that before? - I can think of a few players who have done it with two clubs but none with three.

Thought it was strange at the time, needing a goal and bringing on a defensive midfield but it worked so what do I know!

It sorted out our midfield I think. Lucas managed to bring a bit of composure I think when everybody else was trying to force the issue. Worked brilliantly.

It also calms my worry that Lucas won't stick around next season. I was worried that the reinvention of Gerrard had basically forced Lucas out the team as there was no room for the two of them in most matches and Lucas is too good to sit around until Gerrard needed a rest. His more advanced play was great though.
