It would have been more of the same vs Newcastle too. The slip up vs. Chelsea is the ultimate cause of this stupidity.

Some people are very optimistic about the future and think we'll be right back in the mix next season. I think we've come a long, long way and have matured in many respects but I think it's going to be tough next season. I don't anticipate us replicating this season's form. Even though other supporters use our fixture list as a stick to beat us with, all the extra games next year are going to wear the players out earlier. We could mimick Arsenal's form over the past couple seasons easily.

I'm not going to get carried away which is probably why last week's result was so incredibly gutting to me.

Great season. BR will be ruthless in the summer and we will come back even stronger.

Although it is devastating a draw doesn't change things that much, really we needed City to slip up, now we just need them to lose rather than draw.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

              Unbelievable.

For me the game changed with the Coutinho sub. He's a wonderful player but he always seems to shine at Anfield - away from home he seems to struggle, even when he is totally fit. At home he is magnificent, but the last truly great game from him away from Anfield that I can remember was Newcastle away last season. Tbh he should have taken the Palace player out for the second goal and took a booking. Just to clarify though, I am not blaming him for the result at all.

The other thing is, as much as I love Sakho and think he is a great player, I have to agree with Carra that neither him or Skrtel are leaders. For whatever reason the defence seems to function better when Agger is in there and I've no idea why. Next season we need to tighten up - and perhaps retain Agger or get another true leader in there.

All things considered it was very unlikely that we would win the league anyway from this morning. You could argue that it was all a bit arrogant the way we tried to batter them at 3-0 up and have only 2 at the back. Anyway, a win against Newcastle secures us 2nd and that is what was likely pre-match anyway.

It has still been a fantastic season and I'm proud of my team - so come on you reds!

Its worrying that Rodgers spend 20mill on Sakho...he should be an absolute beast for that kind of money

I'm not arsed about the result. The title was City's when the beat Everton for me.

But I do think we need to rethink our approach over the summer, we're far too gung-ho, need to tone it down a bit.

We have the worst Liverpool defense in the past many years. Glen Johnson doesn't put pressure on Delaney and just stood there when he took the shot. Again, Glen Johnson should've taking the booking. It is inexcusable that he didn't commit a foul. Furthermore, I don't understand why Skrtel keeps getting into the starting line up. Last year he wasn't in the starting line up he then had some top performances but the last couple of games his performances have gone from bad to worse imo. Again today he lost his man and then Palace equalized. Unbelievable that we after this amazing 60-70 minutes have this feeling.

****ing defense. Looks like the last hope of the title disappeared today. It is unlikely but not impossible that City would draw against Villa or West Ham but they would never lose. Gutted once again. The luck we had earlier this season looks to be over. I don't blame this on Clattenburg but he was awful today.

I didnt mean specifically you when commenting in the thread, but it does read that way

Apologies, didnt mean to single you out
Fierce, even though you've apologised, I feel a little bit aggrieved. I would really like to know what I have said that is uncalled for or unfair. It seems you have singled me out when others have been saying much more controversial things.

I already feel like I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to gleaning your respect (and others' too) but I will not censor the things I say because they upset you or make you feel like I don't support the team as much as you do. It's not the case and it makes me think you're a bit blinkered.

Rodgers would've learnt an awful lot, and he'll know who can deal with the pressure, and who can't. Heads were lost on the pitch.

This summer is going to be massive.
Hopefully we will also have learned **** loads tactically and how not to press our luck. This isn't just about the players, but also some at times naive approaches to games where we could do with just a win or even a draw.

Still we have done magnificent over the season, but it's just not to be.

We should have been 5 or 6 up really. But we crumbled as soon as they scored their first goal.
                          Are we winning?

That last 15 minutes were the worst I have seen in a long time watching us. 3-0 up against a team that hardly score more than 1 in a game and they end up scoring 3.

There's a few players out there tonight who won't be here next season. Sakho and Skrtle just doesn't work so one of them will have to go and for me it would be Sakho. We need a leader in the defence.

I do think there be some truth in this. Attack is the best kind of defence - but not to a stupid extent when you're three up and just need a win.

Exactly how I feel, next season is going to be tough.

I'm gutted, that was a massive chance for us and we've blown it big style.

We're not good enough defensively and I can't see us improving in that aspect next season either.
