No I'd give that a 7 - it was only the carling cup which is the fourth priority trophy IMHO & we played ****e football that year

My point is finishing 2nd & winning nothing can never be a 10/10 season for LFC

For me this season is 10/10.

      We've gone from 7th to 2nd.
Went to the last game of the season with a chance to win the league.
Won 37 out of a possible max 42 points when the pressure was on in the run in
Improved by 24 points from last season, the 2nd highest points improvement in PL history.
The club has it's pride back.
The fans believe again, I mean really believe.
We have Champions League football back.
      Brendan Rodgers is ****ing ace.
Sterling, Coutinho, Flanno and Henderson have all broke through this season into major players.
We are capable of playing numerous different formations, often in the same game.

I could go on, but do you know why this season is a 10/10 for me?

It's because we are all that fans from Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton talk about, all they tweet about.
We're all they moan about, every waking hour is dedicated to them talking and thinking about LFC.

They know, those ****ers know that we're back.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I think statements like that are absolute bollocks personally. They sound cool, but they're not true really are they? Same is his bigger than life and death quote. Also total bollocks, sounded cool though.

I've just criticised Shankly, so before the inevitable ban hammer smites me down I'll say bye all, it's been a real pleasure

          You're 100% right.
2nd was nowhere when there wasn't such a financial side to football, now in the PL era you cannot compete without spending shed loads of money on transfers and wages, to do that you need to finish consistently top 4.

Ergo if you can't finish 1st, finishing 2nd really is quite important in the grand scheme of things

Fair enough you guys have your opinion

But I'll say again finishing 2nd & winning nothing can never be a 10/10 season for LFC

An arbitrary value. It's such a minor point that it's not worth fighting over, but given how ridiculously we've overachieved this season, way beyond my wildest dreams, I'd find it hard to fault this season at all.

I'd take this over winning the FA cup and finishing 4th like Arsenal any day personally. We've made a huge breakthrough that's far more valuable to us in the long term that winning a cup.

Respect your opinion completely though. Shall we hug? Hug it out big boy :hugs:

We've exceeded all expectations so it's a clear 10/10 for me on that basis. The bar is obviously going to be higher next year, so we need to deliver in terms of trophies. Priority has to be the league first, then the CL.
                Are we winning?

Just to say that doesn't mean we'll be celebrating the season like winning the league. Clearly not. Now that we've put ourselves out there, the expectations will be obviously to win it next year and anything other than that will be considered a failure.

Has to be 10/10 for me, even with the defence over the last few games.

I can't see it any other way because finishing a couple of points off top in second is far more than I expected with this squad. The lads have played out of their skins and we've punched way above our weight. I really thought we'd finish outside of the top 4.

That said, we really need to strengthen now that we're playing CL games too. We can't compete on both fronts with this squad, it'll be stretching us way too far. Even with another 3 or 4 players.

High 8 out of 10 for me....

Some rip-roaring football from us for large portions of the season, and the winning streak really hammered home how much confidence can breath life into a lot of our players.
Suarez, despite looking leggy in the last few games, put in a superhuman performance this season, plus if someone told me Sturridge would get 21 goals this season, I would have snapped their hand off.
Emergence of Sterling as a real threat, Gerrard looking at home in the new position, Henderson's growth etc etc..
Others have mentioned the highlights, so I'll not repeat them.

Loads of positives, and I'm very upbeat for the future under Rodgers. So why only an 8/10 ?

Ultimately, we let the league slip, and while it's pointed to make comparisons between the strength of our squad in comparison to others, and our lack of options on the bench, we let the league slip through our fingers as far as I'm concerned when we were absolutely flying high, and our lapse was taken advantage of. Stupid mistakes, some of which may never happen again.
Might seem harsh given the points we picked up over our winning streak, but it's a devastating disappointment regardless of where we placed ourselves at the start of the season.
No silverware.........cup runs were a complete non-event. Not a massive loss all in all, but it'd be nice to put winning experience in some our young lads.
Lack of impact from signings........always a bone of contention, but apart from Mig, the lads brought in have done nothing of note and will more than likely be bounced out at first opportunity. Couple lads out on loan may have a future down the line, but it's too soon to tell.
That leak we have at the back....

Might seem a negative post, but it's really not, finishing where we did was a brilliant achievement, and the return of CL football is what this club deserves. Make the right signings this summer and there's no reason to believe we cannot sustain a similar challenge, both at home and Europe with the added experience of actually being title-contenders.

9/10 - how can you argue with 11 back to back wins and 12 wins from the last 14 games of the season. Unbelievable to watch at times and now it feels that we're becoming a lot of people's 'second team' as it used to be in the eighties... and that's all down to the style of football Brendan has helped us to play

You can only say if something has been successful if the parameters for success are defined.

Our parameters were 4th place and an increase in goals scored.

We beat our league target by 2 places and in the process of doing so, set a club record winning streak and goals scored as well as producing the top 2 goalscorers in the PL this season.

                              10/10
                              Was muß, das muß.

10/10 for me given our set targets and expectations for the season.

The target was CL and it was accepted as a difficult one as well. So having a shot at the title on the final day was incredible. So many positives as well.
