I remember him scoring a hat-trick for England u19s a few weeks back, I think he's got it and it will show when he starts playing regularly.

Do people actually watch pre-season friendlies excepting them to be good/exciting?

Personally I enjoy them for a chance to see new signings in action and some of the young players (i.e. Ibe) but I don't actually expect it to be an enjoyable game.
