The club offered him a new deal but he has been offered first team football there. He’s not getting that here. He’s nearly 20 and is well behind Rio. Makes sense for him to leave.

But it’s also interesting that Molde is his likely destination.

I think I’ve fallen into the usual trap of rating our younger players higher than I should. I don’t seem to learn. How many next one to break through have we had and I don’t think any of them have made it to the top level.

The level you have to be at to even make it as a squad player is massive. You can look at players like Williams at Forest but he wouldn’t have developed like he did staying at Liverpool as a squad player and probably wasn’t good enough for that role back then.

Is there a player that left as a youngster and you can look at and think what if.
I’d be disappointed if he was to leave without a buy back or sell on deal in place. I’ve watched him quite a bit & he’s pacy but he’s of slight build & would need to bulk up considerably to make it in the prem.

Suso went on to have a decent career in Europe after he left us

This is the first time I’ve seen them do an Inside Training video of the Academy kids & I hope they continue doing them.

Cheers Slinky. Good deal to get him much needed 1st team football & if he goes well we make more money & if he goes really well we buy him back.

Another one heading out the door. That’s 2 coaches that have overlooked him in the past 2 seasons so I wonder what the problem is.

“It’s been pretty crap”: Liverpool striker confirms he will leave after “no games”
              February 27, 2026

              Jack Lusby
Liverpool striker Oakley Cannonier has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season, having been overlooked for younger players in the U21s.

Cannonier rose to prominence for his unlikely role as the ball boy who aided Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s quickly taken corner against Barcelona in 2019.

His day job is as a striker in Liverpool’s academy, but after a breakout 40-goal campaign for the U18s in 2021/22 he faced a long struggle with injuries.

But in an interview with The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell, Cannonier insisted he has been fit since 2024 but finds himself out of the picture as coaches favour younger strikers such as Jayden Danns and summer signing Will Wright.

They’ve been signing some highly rated players from all over the place recently. Feels like a shift in the approach and they’ve gone for more recruitment from overseas which they haven’t done for a while to go with the taking top talent from other teams. And going for that 15-17 age range when players have had more time to develop before being signed. I don’t mind it really. Stack the academy with the best players possible.

Liverpool youngster Josh Abe has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a serious injury while on international duty.

Another win for the u-21’s. 4-2 against Spurs.

Morrison with another 2 goals. Will Wright and Cisse with the others. Looks like Pesci, keeper, got an assist as well.

Trent Kone-Doherty rejected new Liverpool deal
“We’ve lost a good player,” Page is reported to have said.

“In this job, you’re in it to develop players. He’s decided to move on. We wanted to keep him. There was an offer of a contract.

“So, disappointed to see him go, but that’s life. That’s development football. It gives others an opportunity now to step into his place, and we can focus on them.”

Liverpool have got worries over several young players in the wake of Kone-Doherty’s departure. While Ngumoha is contracted until 2028 it remains to be seen whether he gets significant first-team minutes.

Abe meanwhile has not yet signed the scholar terms on offer to him and is a target for Real Madrid and others.

And in the case of Keyrol Figueroa - also out of contract in summer 2026 - there is growing interest from PSV in the USA U20 striker.

U-21’s winning again. The win takes them top on goal difference. Teams below have games in hand but they’re on a role right now. Second top scorers in the league.

5-0 up in the closing minutes against Wolves.

Morrison with another goal and an assist. He’s flying right now. Ewing, Ramsey and Wright with the others plus an own goal.

I just watched the extended highlights & Trey Nyoni was instrumental in the win. He led the press & won the ball twice & layed it on a plate for Morrison & Wright. Unbeaten in 10 matches now. 8 wins & 2 draws

Jayden Danns made his comeback for the u-21’s today but got injured and had to come off after 29 minutes. I hope it was more precautionary and he’s ok.

                                They lost 2-0 to city.
