I think it's premature to say that Sakho will be gone by the end of the season and Lovren will be horrendous, it's extremely early days. If it were up to the people on here, or their suggestions/hypothesis we wouldn't have a central defender at the club.

People saying Toure and Skrtel aren't up to it, Rodgers apparently hating Sakho (and him having a 'dodgy' style), Lovren being **** - god for 10 minutes after a friendly and apparently **** again, Illori needing to be loaned out for experience etc. Great get rid of them all, we'll have no centre halves.

Things certainly haven't been brilliant, but we haven't really defended that well since Rodgers has been here, it's definitely something we need to work on. Regardless of the personal it's been quite poor, out of the players we have at our disposal I believe that Sakho and Lovren are the two whom are most likely to sort it out, if they do or not is a different matter. I like Lovren's style and what he's trying to do, but he needs to calm the **** down a little and perhaps that'd help him settle a bit, he's the right kind of player as we've said it just hasn't worked yet, but it's far too early to say. The current changes in the team from front to back, can have an adverse effect on the defenders which exposes the two centre halves more.

Most of his failings have been positionally

That is his biggest flaw so far, I would like to think its something the club could work on on the training ground but I am not sure we have the willingness or know how to do this

He looks a bit nervous and makes a lot of last minute tackles.

Itll come though, he looked good the couple of times I remember him for Southampton.

Maybe Lovren needs to calming influence of Skrtel beside him to chill out.

The reason I think that Sakho will be gone in next summer's transfer window is that he seems to be the odd one out.

Of course, that may all change and he might get a run as first choice, but I can't help but think that come Skrtel getting back to full fitness, Sakho will be back on the bench as the third choice central defender.

I think the pair of them will get better and settle down - whether the standard they settle at is high enough to make it with us is another thing. I'm hopeful.

It could be a lot worse.

We could have Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling as our 3 main CBs.

To be fair to Lovren, from what I’ve seen he hasn’t been too dissimilar to our new FB’s so far. They have all been prone to the odd lapse, but most times can use their pace to make recoveries. Unfortunately for Lovren, he’s in a more important position, so if he isn’t able to make the recovery, he doesn’t have the luxury that the FB’s have with someone else to cover, so can end up getting punished.

It is still quite worrying, but hopefully it’s just early season / new club jitters.

If we don't start improving soon, bring back Kolo.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Encouraging read at the bottom from a Saints fan who thinks all Lovren needs is time in a settled partnership and he will prove his worth.

I think Sakho will drop out, Skrtel will come in, and Lovren will move over to his preferred left side. Sorted.

Agger and the Argie are both gone so we are down to only 3 CBs so Sakho is going nowhere.

We need 3 fighting for 2 spots.

I predict Lovren will become brilliant for us once he settles and more importantly the full back issues are settled.

To come to a new club, have to new foreign full backs playing and constantly changing your other CB partner because of injury is not ****ing easy for anybody.

He needs time to settle and time to integrate his fellow defenders into a decent backline.

I think he'll come good, just needs time, its a new backline! I also think that we will be looking to pair him with someone solid next season, like a hummels or something, and that Sakho will be moved on. Then we will see the best out of him.

Didn't think Lovren was/is as good as some are making out but at the same time, he is better than his showings so far.

We ever happens this CB issue has gone on way too long, it's an obvious weakness at the moment.

Yup, close enough I was in a conference and was trying to do it quietly.
