Exactly. Someone at the club no doubt scouted him and thought he was worth £20m. Whoever that was should be sacked. IMO this is worse than the Carroll transfer.

If I was the owner of a club and we had wasted £20m on a players who offers nothing I would be furious and would want answers.

I think Darkon was saying Agger has played abut 13 games all season, so its fair to say he was cooked and probably left at the right time. I thought Sakho was his replacement - signing Lovren just baffles me. The fee offends me.

Ilori is another one that baffles me as well. We spent £8m on him just to loan him out. Another shocking transfer decision IMO. I'm all for signing youngsters but we cannot afford to piss away £8m on a player who will not benefit the team at all.

Sakho was Agger's replacement. Lovren was Sakho's replacement cos Brendan didn't/doesn't rate him. That's from Tony Barrett.

Its an absolute fundamental of defending that if a centrehalf steps out of the width of the penalty box he either clears the ball or the takes the man

It's a near crisis paying £20m for a defender that can't defend first and foremost.

You have a centrehalf like him that cant do the basics, so players attacking down the flanks have a field day

In addition to that the central midfield area is wide open, there was a couple of times they ran 30-40 yards down the pitch right through the middle of the pitch

Another £100 million spend wouldnt touch the sides here

There are desperate needs all over the pitch now, its a complete rebuild almost

if we brought ilori back we could then use can in midfield too. as the right hand side of a back three, or as the right sided CM he could be sensational.
