That was by far his worst performance for us, absolutly abysmal. We know he has blunders at times, most defenders does, but this was just out of category. He is a good defender overall, but not good enough for us or what we need for this gameplan.

Hopefully it's becoming even more painfully obvious what we need to invest in by now. A goalkeeper and 2 central defenders is needed. Matip is fine, but we also need better cover than Klavan.

For now, even with the reservations expressed by Shaggy and others, I'd go for Gomez in CD for a few games and hopefully have Clyne in for experience soon. Gomez have such a good head on him and is pretty quick on his feet, so I'm not that worried about him getting games there.

He is not - he has not got the mentality to play at the champions league level, as soon as he makes a mistake (which is often) his heads goes to ****. After he made the mistake for the two goals he nearly cost us two more goals and could have got sent off for a wild kick at Kane.

He always seems to play the occasion rather than the game, the best defenders make it look simple regardless of opposition but he over thinks it, tries to impose himself rather than doing the basics. He has this insane focus on being stronger than everyone and keeps posting videos of himself doing weights etc. I prefer if he posted videos of him watching Maldini, Baresi and co and learning how to defend.

Oh and this has aged well Dejan.......

                  That's a bit harsh

On his day Lovren's one of best centre backs in Europe if not the World.

The trouble is he had that best day years ago and he hasn't had one since.

And funnily enough it was the same day the Liverpool scouts went to see him play for Southampton.

He was painfully bad yesterday. His whole demeanour was worrying. He looked lost and bewildered.

He has looked lost and bewildered his whole career. I would hazard a guess because he plays for us we are just seeing him play more.

Horrendous signing, breeds complete and utter panic.

I think he was at Lyon or Lille in France, the fans there were supposedly delighted to see the back of him IIRC. 100k

Being honest, we have seen him be great on occasions. He looks like a quality player with a drink/drugs problem, has the ability but can't concentrate. Maybe a psychological problem of some kind. Just what it looks like.

Back to this sort of thing from him. If he loses concentration he is a disaster.

Has there been anymore on the suggestion that he was playing on painkillers? Because while he was awful yesterday if that was the case then IMO the blame doesn't just lie with him, the manager has to take some of the blame for putting him in that situation.

Regardless of that he is the weakest link and needs to be replaced ASAP
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Exactly - he should have been upgraded on in the summer, Klopp and his "name me 5 better centre backs" quote will continue to bite him in the arse every gaff him and Matip make.
