I think Lovren did well for us earlier in the season - but as Rich says, he has to get up to speed and can't run cold. But I think he also spooked the other defenders...

        So since Klopp has stated

"If anyone blames Dejan Lovren for our defeat, I can't help these people..."

can we we officially place Mr Pink (and his pseudonym frank the tank) into the 'can't be helped' bin?

Lovren started playing Prem matches in October and November - he started at home versus Leicester, Spurs and City and away at Villa and Palace. We won them all. I haven't checked non EPL matches.

You are doing gods work mate, but you are being goaded.

There are elements of the (online) support who need to chuck someone under the bus after a bad result.

              Haters gonna hate.

Wow really??? Klopp didn’t publicly criticize his own player? Ahh he must be class so... not gonna get into the reasons why Klopp wouldn’t say that one of his players is ****, if you don’t know, reckon you’re the one that needs help, pal..

Also for the record, I don’t blame Lovren for the defeat, just think it was yet another ****e performance from him.. everyone else had a bad game too..
                I don't tip

Lovren played 9 PL games this season- in those 9 games we have 1 clean sheet and conceded 11 goals.

Gomez played 18 PL games this season- in those 18 games we have 10 clean sheets and have conceded 10 goals.

I’ve made my feeling bout Lovren clear long before we played Watford, mate- when we were winning week in week out..

I’ve said many times that he has been good for us, but now he’s the weakest of the 4, one of our top earners, and his contract is up next season- time to show him the door..

We won everyone of those games though. And Lovren also played in games where Adrian was keeper, Adrian only kept 2 clean sheets in the League. Blaming him for conceding in those games is agenda led.

I was at the first game Gomez came back for against Salsburg and he was ****e. He came onto a good game when he got back into the team when Matip and Lovren were injured and he got a good run of games under his belt.

I'd have Gomez and VVD as first choice for CB with the other 2 filling in.

You need consistency in sport to generate rhythm, players who play a lot will find it easier than those who dont.

The amount of experts we have on here, you'd think this would be obvious to everyone.
                        Oh I don't know.

I’m not blaming him for conceding- just pointing out we have a better defensive record with gomez in the team than with Lovren.

If evaluating how good a defender is, it makes more sense to look at the defensive record than the number of games won. (Even though gomez has a better record of this too). If the team drew every game 0-0, we wouldn’t be blaming the defenders would we?? If we were winning every game 5-4, would we have a good defense??

I think Lovren's biggest weakness is his own head. His overly boastful pronouncements seem to mask an insecurity he has.

If he makes a mistake you can see the internal battle he has in his own head which leads to more and more shaky play. If he genuinely believed he was the player he says he is in public (and he has most of the tools to be that player) then he'd be a fantastic defender. I don't think he genuinely believes it though.

Also he has this mad idea that if there's a big lump to battle with then he's the best person to do so, which you could see the big lump Deeney relished.

No **** - of course we’re expected to do worse when we have to play our squad players.

Based on your epic insight here, we need to replace our 4th choice defender with someone at the same level as our first choice pairing, which is a bit ridiculous when you think about it for more than a few seconds.

I agree with Mr Pink that Lovren is our 4th best central defender. The question is whether he has dropped beneath a threshold that being 4th-best requires. We would need to replace him...but a youngster would likely make errors too...so another older, experienced head would be more prudent. How much would they cost and would they come to us to warm the bench? Don't know....
