There was one in the box that looked dangerous but what was the alternate? The ball would have dropped to a Chelsea player in the box unchallenged but he bust a gut to put the player under pressure. I would rather see that than watch us concede a chance without a Liverpool player trying to prevent it. The commentators were taking about it being rash and I was thinking 'good lad, get stuck in'.

      He played ok I thought.

He is, however, always heavily involved in those keystone cops ricochet moments in our box and composure can be questionable (mis hit clearances in the box, lunges). I think with a calmer head he could become a much better full back, and he gets drawn out of position a fair bit, again more composure would help him.

He's got a lot of heart, the fact he loses it when he plays his hometown team tells you a lot. If he could take away his impetuous streak, and play the game with a calmer head he'd be a much better player, because he has the raw attributes.

*I've supported him more than most on here, so just calling it as I see it.

this is the worst of it.
even in the chelsea game he was in the centre midfield position as the ball went out wide. ball watching and lack of intelligence.
he often goes for a wander around leaving loads of space on his side wide open and when the ball is played out there he goes blitzing across at such speed its then a piece of piss for the attacker to then cut back and leave moreno flapping around.
pace often saves him but then hes steaming in and out of control and unable to check back.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Which presumably is the reason our elite level coach picks him each week?

And the Spanish national side recalled him into their squad.

He is playing better this season. But just because of that, and the fact he was recalled to the Spanish team doesn't mean he's immune from criticism, nor has it heralded him discovering a Maldini like poise, presence and ability every game?

Yeah, but we're not talking about that. Immune from criticism he got absolute pelters for the Chelsea game, people dismissed his form so far this season and reverted to throwing abuse at him.

But people are saying he wanders all over the place and is away with the fairies. One can only conclude that these elite coaches and managers actually want him to be where he is and it's down to the systems employed to make up the gaps (and is clearly not working).

I've been a big supporter of him as a player and person even last season when he took pelters despite barely playing. I'm saying 'immune from criticism' directly to you both who are using the 'coach knows best' response to cover any accusations of poor play. Personally I don't think his play was beyond reproach on Saturday, and as mentioned I think if he were to play with a calmer head he 'could' get better. He is clearly currently seen as our best option at left back and I have no issues with that. It doesn't mean is putting in man of the match performances each week, nor does it mean he is fulfilling the coaches plans perfectly. As far as I am aware no-one is saying he wanders all over the place all game, thats an elaboration - but he does do it.

Spain can only pick Spanish players, so I assume he is back in the squad on merit. For us, is he the answer to our left back position - I'm not so sure. Is he playing better and in the team on merit - absolutely.

Our defence is full of weak links, links prone to error from time to time - its a matter of figuring out which one needs replacing to make the others stronger.

                      a well balanced response
some guys shouldnt be taking criticism of a player so personally.
forum members will comment on the good and bad of all players and thats what makes conversation and debate.
yes, moreno has improved and is more consistent, but even during his good moments [to use a kloppism] he is still able to have a few dreamy periods. and as the game against seville clearly demonstrated he is still more than capable of the odd real ****e show.

Don't be fooled, it's just Scottish bias, promoting Robertson in a subtle, nay underhand fashion by way of appearing reasonable.

I'm not saying Robbo is the answer either..!

I think Moreno has a lot going for him as an offensive fullback and his suitability into Klopp's system. He just needs to be more consistent and I think he will be as he matures into the role. There are not many fullbacks in world football who could bring that balance in their game.
