As good as Robertson has been this season (and I'm a fan of him, as well as AM) he did himself no favours last night - a very Clyne-esque performance - didn't offer enough going forward for me and passed it back/sideways far too much.
He's got a cracking delivery but if we're playing against a roadblock I think Moreno is more effective. We dont have a big CF to get on the end of the crosses so to whip them in you need the ball ideally between the CBs and the GK to cause problems - this is usually 3/4 yards at most with teams setting up so deep. It's too much.
Definitely room for improvement for Robertson but for me Moreno needs to come back into the XI when fit.

I think Robertson can play even better, but he’s barely put a foot wrong so far.Originally posted by Lecter View PostNot for me
Robertson has got to the byline quite a lot, put some dangerous balls in at times as well
He also looks miles more comfortable defensively
I think he (as you say) fundamentally understand the position better than Moreno who is more of a maverick.Last edited by Buzzo; 14-12-17, 05:54 PM.Modifying post.

I was unfortunate enough to have gone to the West Brom game last night, and what was very noticeable was the amount of times Robertson would take up a good, free position, called out for the ball and was ignored by Coutinho, Firmino or whoever. It wasn't until Oxlade came on that he was given the ball in a more advanced position.Originally posted by Lecter View PostNot for me

I definitely feel like it was both. Coutinho wanted to do it all on his own too much and held the ball too long/looked for Firmino. But Robertson also ignored many chances to cross, instead playing the ball back inside.
Although it did feel like maybe he had been instructed to do so because his natural game previously has been to cross it in early. Moreno does seem to cause more chaos playing those 1-2s because he is so unpredictable, where with Robertson he is either going to cross the ball or keep it.96 Never Forgotten
