Skrtel always got grief for being out of the defensive line playing opponents onside. Sakho was massively guilty of that for one of the goals. His **** position ten yards closer to goal allowed the attacker in behind Moreno
Just re-watched the goals. No doubt he was at least partially to blame for the first and third, but what strikes me looking back is that no-one covered for him. He stupidly rushed out for the first, but we had loads of bodies in the box and Lovren still had the goalscorer well marked before completely losing him. That should never have led to a goal, despite Moreno. He was out of position up the pitch for the third goal too, but Can tracked all the way back with the goalscorer before stopping and ball-watching leaving him in acres of space at the back post, whilst Milner was deeper than the centre halves playing him onside. That should never have led to a goal, despite Moreno.
Then there's the Sakho-too-deep incident that ChesterDave mentioned that led to a fantastic chance for them (should have been a goal).
Moreno was **** defensively in that game, but we really weren't defending as a team at that point.

People think that his issue is that he isn't a brilliant defender. The rhetoric being that because he is such an attacking force that it can be excused.......like he is a Gareth Bale / Roberto Carlos hybrid. It's bollocks. He is ****in garbage as an attacker as well. He gets into positions but he never does anything that actually hurts the opposition either. He is actually detrimental because players pass to him when he is in a good position - but then he does feck all with the ball anyway......
His decision making is terrible. And one good goal against Spurs 3 or 4 years ago isn't going to change any of that.
He is fast. That is about the only thing he has got going for him......but it doesn't matter because he does **** all good with his pace.
He's not as bad as people want to believe, so that would be an interesting move. If he goes to Barca and does well, the obvious reaction will be that anyone can play defence for Barca. If he goes to Arsenal, Emery has worked with him before so could get the best out of him.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
He's ****. I can't think of any other way to put it. there is no excusing how **** he is, he's just ****. Completely unsuited to us. I went to the Chelsea league cup game and had the pleasure of watching him right in front of me in the Kenny stand for the second half, and it was like a bad memory coming back to me - him, Lovren and Mignolet getting their **** band back together again and looking every bit as bad as they have done in the past. The difference Alisson, VVD and Robertson have made is difficult to quantify. All I can say is I don't come out of games when they play covered in other people's furious spit from yelling at Moreno, or with a stress headache caused by anyone attacking the left hanbd side. He's crap.
