I haven't seen a single comment saying he's **** to be honest, just people saying his pairing with Gerrard isn't very good. Its too deep and slow for my liking and I think it detracts from our pressing game when you compare it to when Gerrard is deeper and Allen/Can are in the side.

Rodgers has opted for solidity rather than free flowing attacking. Sensible for a first game. Remember last year? We were playing in a similar fashion for the first 10 games. It's all calculated to get the best out of us near the end of the season.

Lots of teams play with two sitting midfielders and by nature, a pairing like that lacks mobility.

i can see the need for more solidity, and agree with keeping things tighter at the back. this set up concedes too much midfield dominance as we end up with men behind the ball allowing them to bully our wee men in midfield and stopping us breaking with the ball on the deck.
