Defending is a fairly basic thing. You pick a man and you stick to him,especially at set pieces. These guys are paid crazy amounts. Why can they not grasp this concept?

We'll struggle if the midfield continues to offer minimal support, always allowing the opposition to stride forward unabated to our area. For much of today's game vs. bottom-placed QPR it looked like an attack vs. defence training session.

I think it must be the coaching and some of the tactics as well to be honest.... It will be interesting to see what happens going forward but I really feel that the defence could be the ruination of Rodgers. I hope I am wrong but I can see it all going Kevin Keegan at Newcastle

Fair to say they are getting some basics wrong, but there's clearly more to defending at this level than that. And yes zonal marking does work.

How's Papadopoulos doing these days? We need an aggressive nut case at the back. Stick with the two spanish lads at full back and maybe it's time to tweak the system and reign in their attacking foray's a bit while we try establish some defensive solidity.
