That's so funny, he had one good game in 12 months and now Kolo is our best defender. Just wait until he males another error and gives the ball away and everyone will be saying how much of a calamity he is.

Not based on yesterday's performance, he's easily the best of a bad bunch. He brings a bit of calming influence at the back and should be playing more regular. You're right though, one mistake and the fans will be calling for his head.

To be fair, it doesn't take much to top our list of defenders. One good game is probably enough

you're takling about Kolo Toure yeah?

He was good vs Madrid & i would definitely have him ahead of Lovren but calming influence I don't think so. We just have poxy options at CB at the moment. Would start him vs Chelsea but Rodgers will start Lovren.

Difficult for me to imagine Kolo making two consecutive good performances but I also cannot imagine Lovren making one good performance so meh...

That article is precisely what I've been banging on about Skrtel he makes these heroic last ditch tackles but most of the time it's from a previous mistake he's made, he vacates his area far too often trying to win balls he should be leaving to others and ends up leaving us massively exposed time and time again.

The common denominator in our defensive woes is Skrtel imo time to bomb him out I mean it surely can't make us any worse at the back anyway.

Problem with Kolo,he'll have one super game then he'll have a game which is full of comedy and depression, and become the Internet Joker

I think both he and Lovren like to intercept. They both like to come out aggressively to win the ball. It's fine one of your CBs doing this, but not both. One of them needs to sit back. We had this with Hyypia and Henchoz, perfect symmetry.

BR needs to stick to a settled back four partnership for a good number of games for a partnership and understanding to develop between back 4 and Gk,Also possibly look at different coaching methods

Our best partnership last season was at the start, Kolo & Agger. Both looked solid. Then one of them got injured prior to the United game and Skrtel came in and had a stormer. For the rest of the season Skrtel out performed his partner, whoever that was. It was no surprise in the summer that Rodgers decided it was Skrtel who was going to be his cornerstone with a partner for him brought in.

But whenever Toure played with Skrtel he has to play on the left. His best position is RCB. It could be that Skrtel generally out performs kolo because he's in a familiar position whilst Kolo isn't. Based on all this I would definitely be interested to see how a partnership of Lovren and Toure did. And in the future, seeing how Sakho did alongside Toure.

The annoying factor is this may be Toures last season where we can expect anything like a decent return. But whatever happens, at this stage I would be very surprised if we weren't signing yet another centre back next summer for between £15-£25m. I'm starting to think that for all the money we've wasted on LCB's, maybe the first position we should have looked at was RCB.......
                          Forwards.......

Creating a table with this info was too hard. So you'll all just have to work it out from this. It's blatantly obvious that we should have kept Agger.

That's last season's stats, so no Lovren. My point being we sold our best defender. The team performed so much better when he was in the side.
