The obvious changes would be Lambert and Sterling coming on to switch back to a diamond; less obvious it's which two players to make way.

We've got plenty of creative players on the pitch but not many players that will make the runs.

Because of the speed of Villa, I think the FBs are wary of getting too far forward so we've ended up playing on the half way line.

Taking an eternity on the ball and even then we're sloppy when we do release it, that all 4 of our attacking players only running back towards the ball is incredibly frustrating.

We didn't even put of foot on the ball until the 20th minute and at that point we could have been 2-0 down, Moreno should have done better at the end there and we could have gotten away with that dire half.

Too many changes. Oh and the atmosphere is as flat as the performance.

I'm not so sure. It's the first European game for several seasons. It'll be a new experience for many players. And very new experience in a Liverpool shirt for all but Gerrard. It's a really big occasion.

Lambert seems to have discovered the secret formula for neutralising us at Anfield, 3 seasons in a row he's done it now.

Having one forward means that they get isolated, they then drift out wide and we are left with **** all in the box. We've already seen it a couple of times this season, with Sturridge or Balotelli; We had them both against Spurs and look what happened there.

Villa are ****ing dirty *******s as well.

Lovren needs to concentrate on getting the basics right. He needs to settle into the team and then grow into the domineering center back he's trying to be.

Balotelli up top on his own doesn't really work. If he's ill, his workrate reflects that.

Markovic looks tentative, like he's scared to have a go, but it's his first start so can be expected. There have been some great passages of play and with some more patients, we'll come good.

Really, you have to say well done to Aston Villa as they've pressed well and defended even better.
