I wonder will we use this game to pick our first choice CB's and get another vital game under their belts? Personally i hope Rodgers picks what he feels is his strongest back line, they need all the games they can get. Be nice for the defence to get another game before facing Everton.

Play as many of the first choice defence as possible, give them as many minutes as possible to build an understanding.

Give both Gerrard and Henderson a rest, and then beyond that I'll be happy whoever he selects.

I think we might take a chance with Rossiter.

Sadly I don’t think we can rely on Lucas any more to deputise for Gerrard and he’s also not suited to the more advanced role. Obviously Gerrard won’t be able to play every game, so we do need alternatives, so I think we might take this opportunity to look at Jordan. Although his natural position is as a DM, he’s obviously mobile enough to play in the advanced role too if required.

Really cannot play Gerrard, Henderson and Sterling in this game. They desperately need a break. Huge shame Can is injured.

Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic and Lambert need the full 90 minutes. We're going to be slow and ponderous with that lineup but we have no choice. Got a feeling 'Boro will win this as they're flying high and will be gunning for a scalp.

Considering we have the derby on saturday and then a trip to Switzerland next week I cannot see us playing our first choice defence. They will be rested, especially Lovren who took a blow to the head.

I would expect to see 9 or 10 changes. Only Borini and Lucas will remain from saturdays team.
