He's a footballing centre half lovely to watch him play

Agger is already better than Carra in my opinion. I will no doubt be shot down but this season has shown Carra up as not being all they great as a centre half whereas Agger has shown all the attributes of a world class centre half.

I don't think any of our defenders have shown anything like world class form. Agger has continued to show he has great potential, but he hasn't dominated enough to be a really great playerin my opinion. He may well have played better than Carra this season but that doesn't make him a better player though.

When do centre halves ever dominate games? I think the fact that Agger had the most inform striker in the Premiership zipped up in his back pocket in the Community shield and has kicked on and showed great ability in the last few games. Is there a better defensive passer of the ball in Premiership or even Europe at the moment?

That's the point though - he isn't world class because he doesn't do what a world class centre half would do. Doesn't mean he won't develop into a player who would - I was simply countering the argument that he was already a better player than Carragher.

I didn't say dominate the game. It is a centre halfs job to dominate the forwards they play against, making the game difficult for them. Franky there isn't a single plyer in our defence who can claim to have done that regularly this season. Being as Agger has played a total of about 10 games for us mostly this season I don't see that there is evidence of him being a really top class defender, althogh it would be churlish to say he hadn't shown signs of the fact he might develop into one.

To be fair Agger has show he is a good defensive passer but I wouldn't say he has been better at it than say Rio Ferdinand this season. I will admit however that Rio has had better movement in front of him and has in the past shown a laxness when choosing his passes which Agger hasn't despite his youth. I'm not debating that he has potential or talent, just that he hasn't fulfilled the former or maximised the latter as yet in his career.

                    John Terry did.

Nobody has dared take you on Scarter......

On this season's form (which is temporary as we all agree) it has to be said that you are correct. Carra's form is not what it should be whereas Aggers has been consistently good.

Well he did in his first season as a semi-regular 2000-2001 and he one Chelseas player of the season (in a defence including Desailly) - I will give you he had played in the league cup before that.

The fact that they where actively seeking to sell Terry and many Chelsea fans really where not impressed by him. I would tend to think Terry did not run games and has not run games his entire career. He marshalls games and is an outstanding defender but he does not run games.
