Lovren, Sturridge and co fitness update

Liverpool have welcomed back Joe Allen and Emre Can to training ahead of Sunday's journey to Queens Park Rangers, while Dejan Lovren is expected to be available and Daniel Sturridge will be assessed.

Brendan Rodgers provided an injury update on his squad at his pre-match press conference from Melwood today as the Reds prepare to take up the Barclays Premier League baton following the international break.

"Thankfully, we have got a number of our other injured players back," said the manager. "Joe Allen is training and looking really well, Emre Can is back, Glen Johnson is back in. So that side is looking healthy.

"Dejan will hopefully be fine for the weekend. We'll have to see tomorrow how Dan is. We just need to see by tomorrow where he's at and then we'll take it from there.

"He has obviously been out for a long time, nearly six weeks. He is working tirelessly with the medical team - I have got an incredible sports science and medical team here.

"They really focus in on his rehabilitation. He's a top-class talent and he'll be looking forward to getting back once he's ready."

Sturridge has not featured for Liverpool since August 31, when he played a central role in a 3-0 dismantling of Tottenham Hotspur, having previously notched a winner past Southampton on the opening weekend.

That early season form was a continuation of performances which have brought 36 goals in 52 games since the 25-year-old arrived at Anfield - and Rodgers is naturally looking forward to his upcoming return.

"He's an excellent player that not only creates space for himself but for others," the Northern Irishman added on the striker, who penned a new long-term deal with the Reds earlier this month.

"If you look at our team in the last 18 months - the penetration and ability to break lines and dominate the game without the ball, with runs - Daniel and other players have made us a real threat.

"Obviously when you take him out of the team you're playing a different game and the model of your game is different. When he's playing and playing how he has done since he's been here, he's one of the top European strikers."
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

A fully fit front 4 of Sturridge, Balotelli, Lallana and Sterling will rip some teams to shreds perhaps we could add Gerrard into that front line too if BR abandons the HM experiment.

With Sturridge out we should go 2 up front with Borini and Balotelli

                2 Italians

                    Play the numbers game G

Either Mario or Lambert need a runner and Borini can do that.

Presumably we have spent the whole week preparing with two strikers in mind so I'd imagine we will do something like Borini and Balo. Doesn't inspire confidence though.

Brendan needs to set the team up get the best out of Balotelli, not really sure what that is.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon
