What did people expect of Rodgers' first experience of Champions League football? Manchester City are still struggling to compete on a European level despite the amount of money they've thrown around. Manchester United needed years of regular European competition to compete at this level.

We've a young, inexperienced team who will take a lot from this game. Of course it hurts, of course it's painful but take a step back. There are major concerns as to how we are set up defensively, that I get; but people expected us to concede five, six and seven. We gave a good account of ourselves, but we're just not at this level yet. We were punished by an incredibly strong side.

Resting Henderson and Coutinho was a good idea and Rodgers has a serious decision to make with regards to Balotelli. All in all, I was infuriated more with our QPR performance. Let's see how we react now against Hull on Saturday.
I'd agree with that, but would have to add that we are actually playing like **** this season and the reaction against Hull is more likely to be more of the same than some season rescuing turning point.

Way too early to say we've pissed money away. It's a far cry from Kenny with Adam, Carroll, Enrique and Downing. I think that some of the players will come right.

It's definitely looking uphill for Lovren and Balotelli though, whom have both had awful starts - possibly the positions we needed to fill most.

Some truth here. Nil consolation though.

Jaysus, that was hard to take.

Very hard to see any positives after that.

Get out of this thread with your common sense and logical thinking.

Not in the mood mate tbh, not at the moment anyway.

                      The changes will be interesting.
To be fair we didn't concede but we didn't look a threat.

I do worry that he can't and won't change his attacking philosophy but we're certainly better with him in charge and I am absolutely sure we will improve but he has to take a step-back and work together with his coaching staff and look at ways of improving the way we play.

The conceding of goals for a team of our stature is simply not good enough and needs addressing urgently, lot of hard work needed from everyone.

Can was excellent, easily our MOTM closely followed by Coutinho and Lallana.

It was always going to be hard being out first year back in the CL. Hopefully it's a learning curve, one we can improve on moving forward.

We have to ensure we get back in it again next year because we're going to be out it fairly swiftly.

How about only losing 3 - 0 to the best team in Europe?

                          Good point but.....

Had it been one nil, fine, that said, we get undone time after time at set pieces - this season and last - can't be a coincidence ?

It's almost like we just played the team with three of the top five transfers of all time in their squad.

No offense mate but That's a pretty poor argument. Yes real Madrid beat us and they are the best team in Europe but what about qpr and Basel etc... Are they the best teams on Europe too ?

This is happening against **** teams as well as good teams. We aren't good enough defensively and we only lost 3-0 but every time they countered us we were all over the place.

It could and probably should have been a lot more.
