we have been far too lightweight and lacking any power. we need beef.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

We simply have too many average players, our good players from last season have regressed and there is zero aggression. Nobody wants to take responsibility and there is nobody to look to as an example or for inspiration, that used to be gerrard, it's not his fault he is gone past that, he is 34.

We could have beaten them if we played that fookin diamond. You know, the one that nearly won us the league last season??

          **** off.
I've said it many times. You don't create squad depth by buying squad players. You buy players better than your best 11, they go in the team and those that drop out become the squad players. You can't do it quickly though, it's one or two top talents per window and gradually your squad gets better. It's an approach we've always avoided for some reason, likely a financial one. Even when we do sign someone better than one of our best 11 the player losing out usually gets sold rather than kept on as a squad member.

Rodgers is between a rock and a hard place.

He knows there aren't goals in this team with the three available strikers being so poor so he sets us up in a negative formation in order to protect our bad defence.

The problem with that strategy is if the other team scores first we're pretty much sunk.

We seem very rigid in our formation, whether by design i don't know, but the interchanging of positions that was so commonplace last season has absolutely vanished. Sterling is stuck wide being tightly marked and we don't move the ball quickly enough to get him in the game, and even when he does get it he looks turd lately.
The foundation of our team today was Skrtel and Lovren with Gerrard and Allen in front, who seemed content passing it around in a nice neat square between themselves. Any forward pass was immediately laid back. Any chance to turn and drive forwards was ignored and the ball was passed back.
Exactly what position was Henderson playing today? Inside left in a 4-2-3-1? WTF?

I mean, were we playing for a 0-0? It certainly looked like it.

Brendan Rodgers: "It was a game we had almost full control of...but we were punished for a mistake, that's what cost us"

We passed the ball well, the options in front of the ball were good. We didn't create as much today as we would have liked.

                    'Patience is the key'.

"We lost as a team. This is not about Balotelli. We've made so many changes, it was always going to be difficult. But we will improve."

Rodgers: We will improve. Difference is the coaching time available.

Why have we ended up with such turd up top though? Clear Luis was off sooner or later- just having Sanchez as an option ain't good enough.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

It's pretty clear Balo is not working on his own, we are losing points trying and burying ourselves, he could try something different like Borini.

Rodgers set us up to try be more compact and stable defensively but absolutely killed us in attack..which has been a huge problem already this season. That formation totally negated Sterling,Coutinho & Balotelli. He just keeps choosing the wrong personnel for me too, Choosing Lovren & Johnson is asking for kamikaze Muds.

I don't think Rodgers knows what players to play where & what way we should play.
I don't think the team was all over the place, we were just impotent going forward. The forward movement was non-existent, but the shape was clear to see; We mirrored Newcastle's formation to ensure we were not over-run and I'm of the opinion Rodgers just hasn't had enough time to develop our attacking transitions from three at the back. It obviously weighed on the players' minds too as they are learning new tactics as well.

You're right, our set-up didn't get the best out of Coutinho or Sterling, but we've been begging for clean sheets recently and Rodgers goes about a way to try and get them and it's still not right. These tweaks can't happen overnight.
