Spearing did actually play when we thrashed them 4-0 last 20 minutes or so, and the crowd was singing 'one Jay Spearing, there's only...'

That was my dodgy eyesight - must have mistook him for someone else earlier watching sky sports news and typing it up. Lucas had a purple bib on too so despite sky hyping it up that can't be the team unless we're going for three at the back with Johnson Skrtel and Toure

thats true. but henderson / sterling / lallana / balotelli etc... should all be on the pitch

I want to agree but they're not performing so at the moment all they contribute is names on paper. Harsh possibly on Lallana and Henderson to some extent but Sterling is young and suffering from performing great as part of an efficient attacking machine to being asked to carry a below average non-cohesive one.

Do people really think that in an open training session with cameras there and anyone from Madrid watching that Rodgers is going to set out the team and do some set pieces?

Not that it matters as Madrid couldn't care less who we pick but the principle is ridiculous.

I don't mind him dropping Gerrard - it gives other players the chance to take responsibility in the game. I can imagine it's easy as a young player to just hope Gerrard does it, but if he isn't there then they have no choice. We signed the players for a reason so let's see what they're made of. Plus someone like Can has far more legs than Gerrard, and if you stick him in a 3 with Henderson and maybe Allen then you have youth and energy throughout the 3. Worth a go init?
