I do understand this view and if I cared enough or was ten years younger I'd be the same. But for me last year was about trying to win the league, qualifying for the champions league was nothing but a consolation prize, a poor one. Look at arsenal, it makes me sick,a team entering year in and never having a hope of winning it, what's the ****ing point? I had hoped we could attract star players because of it to help us domestically, sadly not.

Then what's the point? I mean are we striving for 4th purely for financial reasons? I'm desperate for these nights when we aren't here! Play hard to get here and then roll over? Or fight like **** and if we miss out next year try again without the distraction we get back in but whilst in the cl we have to give it everything or what's the point

Because tonight's result is largely irrelevant in terms of our chances of qualification. I'd prefer we went for it with our best team as a confidence builder, but win lose or draw tonight, it doesn't make much difference - we still pretty much need to win our last two games.

Well steven gerrard should have played better against Basle away and Madrid at home then to make this game matter more than it does. Just because it is a glamour tie doesnt mean ****in ****. It is practically a dead rubber. Also, Liverpool FC doesnt exist just so we can give Steven Gerrard his opportunity to play against a massive team - Steven Gerrard works for LFC....and is there to do his best when called upon...

Well he should have helped the team keep a clean sheet against Basle away and Madrid at home then. He has been ****e and imo is lucky to be on the ****in bench. Just because we paid £20m for him (about 15m overpriced) doesnt mean ****.....he can and should be dropped if he isnt performing. Lovren works for LFC and if he doesnt like it then he can go **** himself...

I think Rodgers has done the right thing tonight. His dilemma now is to decide who his best team is - because guess what, his second team have given a better account of themselves than the shower of ****e that turned up to play against Hull and Newcastle....
