    Some people indeed.
Missed off the bit where I thought we'd invested too much in potential?

Don't worry, in his next interview Rodgers can say "Well, I was on EST1892 the other day and theres a guy on there called Tanner, he thought Balotelli might be a good signing too, so I wasn't the only one"

    What a retarded argument.

Being swept up in the excitement of a transfer is something we all do, its the men who are paid to do this that should be getting these decisions right. So far, I'd say Rodgers is looking at a 15-20% success rate.

Yep, utterly mad. The one player who was kept in from the Madrid game, scored and looked effective.

**** knows what the management see in Johnson but Manquillo with be relieved he's only here on loan if he can't get in the side in front of him

When you look at the squad Chelsea have built, the players they have, the players they have who don't even make the bench...

It just makes me loathe football.

We spent £100m and our squad still looks **** compared to the big teams. Last season we had a strong XI but not much beyond that, we've lost Suarez and somehow the squad doesn't seem to have all that much more depth.
        Modifying post.

No, I saw your bit about potential. It was right after "it's been a good transfer window" and just before "I'm genuinely excited".

I haven't actually made that argument at all though.

          Retarded, you said it.

Whatever, slating people for something you thought was a great idea at the time is bollocks imo.

Rodgers is living on the glory of last year but I genuinely think Suarez, Sturridge and a diamond formation helped disguise the fact we were actually quite flawed. Might be coincidence but losing Suarez then Sturridge to a long-term injury has completely impacted our ability to play simple, pressing, fast-paced clinical football. Too many players having 'off-seasons' so far and Rodgers sticking with firm favourites is a ridiculous strategy as they're actually putting in worse performances than the newbies. Play two up front, revert to the diamond, stop playing reputations and play the hungry. Rodgers is believing his own hype and it simply isn't working. If he continues to be blinkered to the obvious problems everyone has referred to in here, then his days will certainly be numbered.

You look at Man City without Kompany and an off form Toure and they really remind me of us. However, they do have Aguero to bail them out, which is a luxury we don't have.

Basically, we're missing a quality cb, midfielder and striker. The backbone

But it's about personal credibility, no?

If you spout **** and then get pulled up on your lack of consistency, I dare say people may look at your next gem of insight in a different light. Even if it isn't your job and you don't get paid for it.

Oh, and leave out the 'retarded' insults. Juvenile and pretty offensive.

Henderson and Raheem sterling both look off it and certainly in Henderson's case he looks really tired. Last season he didn't stop running yet today I saw him let players run off him and he didn't put any pressure on them on more than one occasion.

Its not like Jordan to not put 100% into everything. Maybe he hadn't yet fully recovered from the debacles of the world cup and the way our season ended. Same for Raheem, we all hope he doesn't hit a brick wall although today he looked very lively.

no, not at all. I had faith in Rodgers to bring in the right players. He had £130m to spend and completed most of his transfers early on, indicating he got the players he really wanted. We paid good money for most of them so its fair to say I presumed that they'd be up to the job at hand, and was therefore pleased with they way we'd gone about our business. I wasn't happy with the balance of potential coming in, but was quite excited with Mario. Turns out I was wrong, but then I haven't handed over £16m and £150k a week and didn't spend time researching the player ahead of a transfer.

I apologise to whoever it was that found the retarded comment offensive.

Gerrard, Henderson and Sterling need to be given 6 weeks off from playing in anything other than Carling Cup games. We are a much better team (that's T.E.A.M.) without them. If Sturridge is fit and can last 3 months without breaking down then Balotelli can join them on the hiatus.

Lucas, Can and maybe Allen can turn our midfield into something resembling a premiership quality midfield.

should have been all over Fabregas.... a massive missed opportunity

So he could sit on the bench while Gerrard is picked? How many £20m+ bench players do we need while we wait for Stevie's next move?

Edit: If you want this in context, he went to Chelsea...where Mourinho moved on a 34 year old Lampard.

As if Fabregas would've joined us. Why do you think we ended up with Balotelli? No top player wanted to join us. We're not in the big leagues, we need to identify those who will grow and get there.

But whilst genuine stars won't join us, there's no mistake for the disaster we've had in the market. I'm sure the blame is partly Rodgers. I'm not excusing him in this mess.

I look at the false dawns we had under managers. Houllier stupidly got rid of Anelka and signed Diouf, whilst also not replacing Fowler properly.

Rafa lost Alonso due to poor management on his behalf & signed an injury prone player with the limited funds he had.

Rodgers has lost Suarez & at present looks to have wasted £50m on So'ton players who haven't been used correctly &/or haven't performed.

Markovic, Moreno & Manquillo were players who I expected to take time. Mario was a late shot in the dark. The So'ton players were supposed to be ready made & ready to settle immediately. Hasn't happened. If anything it's showed that buying Prem proven doesn't mean automatic success. Just buy the best players you can & go with it. Because ultimately, class will always shine through if used correctly.

They're not tired or jaded. They just don't know what they're doing. Team doesn't know when to press anymore & they've gone to pieces. Too many changes with no time to train the new guys.
