I said Mignolet is not the answer so clearly I do want him replaced but it's not a priority IMO.

Would a new GK change the fact that we can't score goals or create chances ?

Would a new GK improve our midfield which can't defend or support the attack ?

Would a new GK make Skrtel and Lovren less error prone ?

If were a club with money to burn like City or Chelsea then fair enough but we're not so I'd rather we sort out the real problem areas before buying a new keeper.

He's free!! We have loads of problems. We have to sort them all. Sorting that one is easy to do, a no brainer if you will, before United get him cos they'll be selling De Gea in the summer. Defence is the priority for me, was last season and the season before. Need a solid base to build on.

I didn't say he dominates. I said he was probably our best player today (not saying much) and I'm saying he does fight. More than many out there as well.

Id say he's got till the end of the year to show he's changing all things bad about us at the moment. It would be the worst thing to go through a managerial change again. But if the performances &/or results don't seem to be changing then there ma be no other choice. This time we'll need a proven manager. Who that is I don't know. Maybe benitez, maybe klopp. Maybe we just need a defensive coach.
I still think we need a specialised DM in the next TW, Lucas as DM for now. Move Stevie in one of the other 2 MC places or use at tip of the diamond, rotating with Sterling/Coutinho. Get Sturridge fit, & go for a quality SC in the next TW too as Sturridge does have his injury problems. Ballo can be 3rd choice, Rickie 4th & Borini sold. See how this gets us through the season then again have a rethink in the summer, however, only adding 1-2 top quality players.
Can't take any more poor performances like today. Toothless up front. Too many passes at the back, lets the opposition get reorganised & makes us play slower as there is - 1) no space to exploit & 2) too many bodies in front of us to be able to run through! C'mon BR sort it out lad.

He won't survive that far because he's not changing anything and we're not winning, simple as. Also we'll be near the bottom of the table by that point and there's no ****ing way the owners will want us near there - he'll be gone by then.

I don't have the confidence in him to turn things around.

I think it's a number of small things that have gone against us and sapped them of confidence, but I don't see it coming back anytime soon.

We can press the ball better and compete in midfield for second balls better and attack better

I dont think Rodgers has helped himself this season and another manager could possibly achieve better with these players.

I am just not convinced that Rafa and his methods would work with these players

Don't know. Rafa can get so much more out of a defence than the sum of its parts - see Riise.

I think some of the off the ball qualities of midfield players like Hendo, Lallana and Allen would suit him too - work rate and ability to press. He'd set us up to be a robust team with the ability to counter rapidly.

Anyway, don't know why I'm getting into this as I'm loathe to give the false impression I am clamouring for his return!

I actually think he could work very well with the squad, Can would also be right up his alley and Sterling and Borini even with his Kuyt-lite impression.

If given the choice right now, I'd swap BR with RB.

It's tough times alright slinky! Having played the same **** way, making the same **** mistakes & getting the same **** results, I don't blame you for thinking he won't change it around. But something has to change! Like we cant serve up this same **** again on wednesday! We need to do the opposite! Then if that don't work then yup he probably will be gone!

IMO you should get the best manager you can, and sign the best players that suit his system. And be patient with results. If he's a top manager and has the right players, results will come.

It's clear Brendan doesn't have the right players. It's also clear that if we got a new manager in the players would likely not suit them. They'd need their own players in. So results wouldn't improve as if by magic. So if you accept that, you must decide what's the best going forwards.

I still think that after what Rodgers showed last year, he's capable. But it will sadly be rough waters as he is struggling with rotating the squad. He's got nothing right this year and has compounded bad luck with poor judgement calls. He's clearly struggling, but I don't see that we'd be better of replacing him.

Riise was 1 out of 3 in a back four, we had Finnan, Hyypia and Carragher with Hamann and Alonso in front of them. 4 of them 6 were top top defensive players

Sure, there's a gulf in quality there, but my point was he has a record of building defences that exceed the sum of their parts - systems that managed to successfully incorporated average personnel into a well drilled unit. Riise was an ever-present. So whilst our lack of top defenders is obviously not going to be irrelevant, I don't buy the idea it would mean Rafa struggled any more than lack of quality elsewhere in the team would.

He's far better than Mig and excellent goalkeepers aren't two a penny and we haven't got loads of money. For a freebie he's well worth it.

I agree with the last paragraph, but I have this feeling that hes not going to change

As I keep saying he played this system in the first 6 months at the club and we were poor, boring, slow, easily bullied, but we kept the ball and won all the possession stats despite results being generally poor

We then signed Sturridge and Coutinho in the January settled on 2 up top, had less possession but pressed high had a better tempo and looked quick and bright in attack. Most of last season we played this way also

Now we have reverted back to his old system, lots of neutral possession that is slow, boring and in front of defences, we are not pressing well and being bullied but our possession stats are great again
