Oh and watch Gerrard get completely isolated. Last time he played in an advanced role he couldn't keep up with the pace of the game and got completely bypassed.

I've criticised Stevie fairly heavily in the Gerrard thread a couple or so weeks back, but let's be honest, he's gonna get isolated with the midfield we've had. We could have Gheorghe Hagi in there and he'd do jack **** with the team we have atm. And as much as we all want Gerrard dropped (as it would prove we have better players), he remains one of better players.

I'd much rather Gerrard start tonight than the other two outcomes:

Coutinho in his place
Sterling in his place and Borini upfront.

I think it's not so much individual performances from certain players, but more they're not working so much with the rest of the group. Coutinho I love, but he's useless in this line up as he has no one to thread a ball too. Lallana works his socks off but other than a couple of occasions, he's not really shown enough in the final third. Of course, he's far from alone.

To me, tonight looks like a line up to take on Barca away as opposed to a ****e Bulgarian team. Gone for a solid and workman like side.
