Not sure what I would do really, going forward the system is more creative so I would probably gamble on that
Of course, different players offer different strengths. When sitting deep an actual full back would know how to defend better you'd suspect. You'd have hoped they'd also know when to go and when to stay a bit more. When it was apparent this system will get hit on the counter regardless, I think that's when Rodgers decided he may as well play Markovic as opposed to Moreno. Trust Rodgers to think of the attacking aspects......

Arsenal will no doubt come at us hard. We have to hope that we attack them better than they do us.

May as well stay with the gung-ho style that brought us so many wins last season.

Arsenal still might beat us but at least it'd be a fun game to watch

Just a pity Rodgers didn't try this formation against Basel as I think we'd have scored a few goals against them.

Potentially (only potentially mind) Brendan may have stumbled on a way of playing that suits the hundreds and hundreds of attacking midfielders we currently have.

It's only taken him half a season to figure it out

Rodgers lost his nerve prior to Basle. He'd also been trying to fit Mario in and when he got injured I guess Rickie deserved his chance. Rickie ran out of legs during that game and when Raheem went up top we were much improved, hence the change.

Rodgers should have changed it up much sooner in reality. We might still get tonked by the better sides, but we'd have laid waste to teams like Sunderland and Basle. Lesson learned for Rodgers.

I think it will be the same team that started last night but with added instructions and tactical discipline which will be drilled in the days before the game.

Moreno as left wingback and Marković either forward instead of Cout or right wingback in place of Hendo and we're set!

He will probably bring back Joe Allen

                      Manquillo-Skrtel-Toure-Moreno
                      ---------Lucas--Can-------
                      Markovic--Gerrard---Lallana
                      -----------Sterling-----------

Would have liked to see Sakho from the start vs Bournemouth but i think the Arsenal game might be bit too soon for him. Skrtel and Toure with Lucas in front have looked good together & both are fitter than Sakho at the moment. Sakho looked very rusty last night...albeit in a slightly different role. We conceded 3 vs United but created alot & could have conceded 3 vs Bournemouth if they were more clinical. Arsenal will punish us if we are that open.

The 3 at the back will work vs some teams but IMO it would leave us too open down the flanks against a quality Arsenal side. I thought the CB's looked very uncomfortable when isolated out wide & unfortunately I think Rodgers will play Gerrard beside Lucas & that partnership just doesn't seem to work. We concede to much space infront of the CB's when Gerrard plays the holding role. I don't like the idea of conceding space infront of the CB's & those CB's also getting dragging out to the flanks like last night.. just doesn't sound good to me.

At least in the above formation we have 4 at the back with pace on both sides, Lucas and Can provide a solid base & Can can break forward. Markovic won't have to break his bollox defending. Gerrard will be out of the defensive side of things & can concentrate on picking out runs from Sterling & Lallana....which is what he does best playing closer to opposition goal.
                      this works for me.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Anyone feel at all confident about this one? I know we looked good the other night but that was against a championship side who to be fair should have got atleast a draw with the chances they missed.
