Thanks lads...not a bad side, lot of pace (and Gerrard pulling the strings) for their back line to contend with, whilst still having a lot of energy in midfield to marshal the back three.

It was always going to be a tough task going to Stamford Bridge, they have a ridiculous record there sunder Mourinho. Good side we have out & we need to play with the intensity of the first leg. Have to take our chances tonight as I can't see Chelsea being as stagnant as they were in the first leg.

We'll give it our best. I hope we take a few shots early doors and go into half time at least a goal to the good.

Like that team and really fancy us to do this tonight.

Is sicknote on the team bus?

                    this would be furcking lurverley.
and gerrard does a version of the suarez dive he did in front of moyes.
gerrard runs up the slips over in front of maureen, who then does his nut and has a stroke at pitch side.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Yep, really ****. Guaranteed away win, they don't stand a chance. I mean, when was the last time a Pardew team or Palace beat us, must be some time back in the 80s

so whats the deal with draws and pelantys.

will it only be pens if its 1-1
0-0 will mean we lose on away goals.
if its 2-2, 3-3, etc then it'd be extra time.
if still level we'd win on away goals, or does it go to pens?

                            is this it?

Every single system has it's strengths and weaknesses.

For example if they play 4231 as usual and don't push their wide lads on then Can and Sakho will have acres to build attacks, if they do then our wing backs are free.
If their full backs sit off in a tight 4 then Markovic and Moreno can run at them, if they engage with our wing backs then that leaves loads of space either side of Terry and Cahill for Sterling to run them ragged.

It's down to individual battles, units against units.
Systems don't win or lose you games, the execution of the game plan does.
I'm a big believer is this.

Of course there are ways to exploit our system. We have three defenders. If a team can get at the wings it keeps us with 5 back, the two sitters have to drop and the two CAM's end up dropping, leaving Sterling isolated.

A 4231 up against us should mean we struggle to get out, but really there's little difference between that and a 3421 which we play. It's the way they're asked to carry out their tasks that are different, but tbh if someone in your team has an off day you get beat. Last week looks like a good away performance as they come away with a score draw, but that could easily have been 4/5-1 in our favour. Or even 2-1 to them if the ref blows for Sakhos stray foot on Costa.

Tonight is a massive game, but we could have the best tactics in the world, if someone slips or under hits a back pass and they go a goal up, we are up against it like we were last week.
                              Forwards.......
