LFC V Spurs (H) Build up thread

We'll have better players and better pressers on the pitch in this game than we did against Everton. Spurs have been riding their luck like Utd. Time for the world to see how they perform when Erikson/Kane aren't bailing them out time and again.

A bit like how we almost exposed Chelsea with Fagregas and Costa.

But with Lucas out and Sterling and Coutinho suffering knocks this may prove more difficult. If either of them is doubtful or Sturridge doesn't start I'd like to see Markovic given a shot further upfield with Ibe retaining his spot.

If everyone is fit (except Lucas obviously) think I would go with -

Can Skrtel Sakho
Manquillo Hendo Allen Moreno
Sterling Coutinho
Sturridge

Spurs do most of their attacking down their left hand side with Erikson drifting in and Rose overlapping so Manquillo would help block that off.
If terling isn't fit I'd play Ibe off the front. If Coutinho isn't fit I'd play Lallana.

Not sure Markovic or Ibe have the defensive discipline to do it for 90 minutes and Johnson won't have the legs.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers bring in Johnson at RCB and move Can into CM with Hendo.
I'd leave the back 3 as they are for as long as possible give how well we've done with them.

Well having lost Lucas, if Rodgers was thinking of switching back to the diamond, this game would be the perfect time. We have Sturridge back and we are playing Spurs who we have easily beat the last three times using the diamond.

So my thought is that if we don't switch back for this game, we never will.

Reverting to the diamond is the only viable alternative to simply bringing Allen in for Lucas IMO. I think it could work, and would also have a bit of the surprise element as far as Spurs are concerned. Big calls for Rodgers.

I hope not, wouldn't that mean Gerrard in, for his third game in a week? I doubt he can do it, and they no-doubt would mark him and close him down anyway. I'd just put Allen in and hopefully Can - Skrtel - Sakho will handle anything they throw at us.

Gerrard that deep is a proven disaster & he's played too many games recently.
