@thisisanfield: Sterling ruled out of tonight's game (via @BenSmithBBC). Markovic to partner Coutinho behind Sturridge, with Ibe on right (via @The_jamin).
    Forwards.......

I think an early clattering on Eriksen would see him play on the fringes. As much as I think he's a great footballer, he doesn't come cross as one for the battle.

Stop him and marshall Kane and I think we'll win. Particularly as Spurs' midfield is pretty weak.

Oh, and leave one in on Vertonghen the mouthy, dirty cunt.

I thought Lallana might start with Couts.

Love Raheem, but I'm not 100% convinced he suits the role behind the lone striker alongside Couts anyway.

Surely with Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge they have more to fear at Anfield and will need to sit back a little. Maybe not play Erikson from the start (since he only seems to contribute with 5 minutes to go anyway).

It is not great, but just looking at their home and away stats and they concede less away from home (and have lost less games on their travels than at home)

What I thought was an interesting set of stats are that they have not conceded one goal away from home in the league from an attempt inside the six yard box, but 44% of all their away goals conceded in the league have come from outside the 18 yard box.

Also they have not conceded one away goal in the league on the left flank inside their 18 yard box but 13% of their away goals conceded have come from their right side inside the 18 yard box.

So the right side of their defence and their ability to close down quickly outside the 18 yard box look like weaknesses for them.

Must have a look and see how we stack up in those terms

Just had a look at our goals against stats for games in the league at Anfield.

Of our goals conceded at home in the league this season, a whopping 58% came from outside the box according to the PL site.

Just noticed that the opening ten minutes of games at Anfield is when we are least likely to score (only 6% of our home league goals have come in the opening 10 minutes) whereas Spurs are most likely to concede away from home in the opening 10 minutes ( 22% of the away goals they conceded came in the first 10 minutes).

The times when we are most likely to concede in the league at home are between the 40th and 50th minute (19% of our conceded goals) and between the 60th and 70th minute (also 19%) whereas Spurs score away most often between the 80th and 90th minute (17%) and between the 40th and 50th minute (14%)

Quite a few teams have tried that this season only to see him pop up with a late goal or assist. I think he has adapted quite well to the pace and physicality of the Premier league, and it has become quite noticeable that he is a bit harder to knock off the ball than he was in the first half of last season.

Also suggests the high line they play doesn't always work as the defenders drop too deep leaving space in the middle.

Sturridge and Ibe will like that space for a shot. Further suggests Couts might in for some good times too if they do leave the middle free-ish.
                        One tit for another.

Taking into account injuries and some need resting, I think Brendog will go with:

                            ---Borini--Lambert--Mario

                            Moreno--Allen--Gerrard--Manq

                            --Kolo------Lovren------Glen
