To me the team is everything. Always has been. If any player, no matter how great they are, gets in the way of the team then I'm no fan of theirs.
Fair enough. From what I've seen in photos posted on here he's always got a smile on his face in training & so do his team mates around him. Doesn't look like an unpopular guy is what I mean. Maybe it's all just a cover up?

I think people are being harsh on sturridge. Imo he wasn't trying to take the peno away from balo, he was trying to calm the thing down. And when balo took his run up and hendo went back for more he was telling hendo to go away as it was clearly not the time for more arguing. The way balo and hendo celebated after with balo pulling him back and hugging him should have been the end of the story. We'll see what the media's reporting and gerrard's comments will do to the team now, a bit rash from gerrard that.

Maybe Gerrard just thought the way Mario went about it was wrong is all, and while Mario maybe expected praise, a little word of warning as to respecting team mates wont go amiss.

Lets be honest, it's not like he's saying it through the media without having the chance to immediately speak to Mario face to face, and i think it's something that the two players would solve amicably, with Gerrard agreeing Mario should have taken the pen, and Mario agreeing he could have gone about it more diplomatically ?

Don't see it as being a big deal, any of it.

Reading this thread is more instructive as to the mindset of posters than it is offering any insight into the situation.

Mario might have known it was decided Hendo was supposed to take them. Mario might not. He might have known, but understood that if he was subbed on it would revert to him due to some sort of pecking order that had been decided. Brendan may have told different people different things at different times and caused confusion. Some of those are obviously more likely than others, but let's face it we don't know enough to act like anyone is bang out of order.

In conclusion, we need Gerrard to play every minute of every game so that everyone is clear on the penalty taking pecking order.

I personally don't understand the derision at the thread and its content. If we can't comment on this then what's the point? We could clearly see certain players were unhappy. We know most footballers have ego's the size of small planets. Gerrard poured fuel on the situation where it would have been best to say nothing. He isn't a cunt now, in the past or in the future.

Its the internet, its a football discussion, its how it works. Everybody posting is happy to do so. Why should anyone else have a problem with this?

By Sunday, it will all be forgotten. But as it was only last night, its fresh and current.

Come to think of it all decisions at the club should be based on whether on not we are going to be able to conclusively blame/praise specific people. It's the biggest reason the committee has to be despatched with.

Balotelli- Henderson wanted to but Mario didn't let him in case he ****ed it up.
Sturridge was an unwilling accomplice and Gerrard grassed them all to the police.

You realise the irony of questioning, in a thread, the fact that someone is giving their opinion in that same thread?

Everybody can comment. People are doing. Just so happens that you've chosen to pass comment on the people that are reacting negatively to the content

I've watched it many times since, it really was **** all. It's not like Balotelli wrenched the ball away from him, he walked up, put his hands out to get it and Henderson let him do it. We've seen how Henderson can stand up for himself of late, so what could be construed as being 'soft' IMO, wasn't. Balotelli scored, so it was the right decision
