I think the fact that it's them that need a goal tips the scales massively in our favour. I can't see any scenario that sees them score and we don't. And I can't see them scoring three goals.

Is there any way of resting players for the City game? Those who need the rest the most IMO should be Henderson, Allen, Coutinho and Can but I can't see them being rested. Don't take any chances with Sakho but if he's fit then, maybe:

Can - Skrtel - Sakho
Ibe - Henderson - Allen - Moreno
Lallana - Sterling
Sturridge

We can put Lovren in at the back and Can into midfield if things are going really well. Or Johnson for Ibe? We need to get through this round and still get a result against City. When do Lucas and Gerrard return from their injuries?

I would risk resting a few of our attacking players. The priority is keeping things tight at the back and even with Mario or Rickie up top, we've still a good chance of scoring, but if things aren't going our way we can bring the big guns on late against a tiring defence, as one goal should be enough to see us through you would hope.

Yep this sounds the best way round of doing it. I'd be happy if that team started.
