Ibe playing meant Newcastle had to change their whole game, i.e. put a useful midfielder, Anita, on the left to counter his pace. That, and being double man marked all game, left Newcastle with zero pace in midfield and why Lovren/Johnson weren't under more pressure (thankfully). No Ibe = more pressure on us. You're seeing his contribution like clueless Derby fans when they couldn't work out what he did most of the game(s). Doesn't take Sherlock to work out why Derby aren't anywhere near top anymore.

      Agree with the rest.
I admire your support Chief, but come on? Anita played LB because Carver wanted Colback in midfield, which meant moving Janmaat into CB and Taylor across to the right. He is not a decent midfielder and there is a reason he starts on the bench most weeks. And how would they have even known Ibe was starting and playing RW to 'change their whole game'?

Ibe didn't have his best game and it's no surprise that our greatest threat was down the left side. There is no shame in that. he'll have a good rest before our next leage game and hopefully pick up where he left off pre injury.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Played well, but it was "only" Newcastle. They are **** atm, and we should have won by a larger number had we more composure upfront.

Shame really for the first half of the season, and regardlss of our record against the teams above us, we should win the majority of the games against the lesser teams, which should in most cases get us top 4.

        And i love Lucas

4 points behind City?! I'd laugh my tits off if they finished 5th, an implosion of Newcastleque proportions.

Everyone is wanking themselves off over Utd being back but they could just as easily slip back to old ways and have a few **** performances.

Still has the turning circle of a barge boat though.

All of the central midfielders are the same

I seriously hope we buy a couple of central midfielders in the summer, including a dedicated holding player

I saw his contribution as losing the ball practically every time he got it, his passing was poor and i don't remember him beating a man- he also miscontrolled numerous times, letting it out for a throw or a GK.
I agree that him being there had a positive contribution, but i also maintain my point that he played poorly on the ball.

He isn't a bad player- just had a bad game

Really? I though Lucas was very good, Henserson was very creative and unlucky to only get 1 assist and although Allen wasn't at his best, still scored an important goal.

What did you find so shocking?

It was disheartening seeing Allen pushed off the ball so easily, and I'm a fan of his. He doesn't make up for it with deft touches and passing either. A better team (Utd? Arsenal?) would have made mincemeat of him.

Henderson looks jaded. Despite having a positive impact in our attacks his touches and control seem to be lacking. Lucas was great though!

Allen is decent in a three man midfield, actually, all our current midfielders are best suited playing 4-3-3.
