SNIP
Only 10 of our games haven't been shown live on TV this year and it's highly likely we'll end the season on 13. I imagine our TV revenue will be much the same (if, as you say, the figures remain the same), so it will be a share of the Premier League money and where we end up.
I was just curious to see the financial implications of where we finish, ignoring the Europa League and the dreaded Thursday, Sunday combo. I imagine we will see some impact to transfer budgets, wages, etc, as we try and see the Anfield development through so we need to squeeze as much money out of position in the Premier League as possible.

Is it deductions? Let's go with deductions.Originally posted by G View PostWe got £23.5m for second place last season not included other things like TV money. Spurs in 5th got £18.5m. £1.26m per place last season.

I meant £700k difference per place. Clearly I was miles wrong but I'm going to claim being close on account it is approximately £700k per live TV appearance

So based on league places alone it makes very little difference, we are likely to end up with about ~£5m less than Chelsea who will (almost certainly win it). As we always knew the big difference in being in or not being in the champions league. Unless it has changed there is little financial incentive for being in the Europa League. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Europa League is getting a bigger share this year, but not significantly bigger. We could probably get a bit more from TV revenue for being live on Sundays but I doubt it will be significant sums again.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostSo based on league places alone it makes very little difference, we are likely to end up with about ~£5m less than Chelsea who will (almost certainly win it). How much bigger, I think I read that a few years ago you got more prize money from just doing ok in the CL group stage than you got for winning the Europa League.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostEuropa League is getting a bigger share this year, but not significantly bigger. Just because we are playing on Sundays (if we're in the Europa League) doesn't make us anymore likely to be on TV.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
