No problem with this. Better than Borini, Lambert and Balotelli, so it's a start (although not THAT much better)

My worry is, how much time have we wasted sewing up deals for Milner and Ings? Not exactly inspiring signings. Maybe, I'm completely wrong on this and the club surprise me and we bring in 2 quality first teamers (not Benteke ffs) to supplement these signings but I highly doubt it.

Someone like Coutinho, must be making plans for his exit next season already. He's having a taste of the high life with Brazil at the moment.

Oh well, just going to try and enjoy the season whatever it brings...

This is a good signing if Lambert, Balotelli and Borini are all sold and we go into next season with 4 strikers; Ings and Origi 3rd and 4th choice, someone new + Sturridge 1st and 2nd.

I don't know what the average is but that seems like a pretty good shots-to-goals ratio.

Not massively excited by Ings but to be honest I've barely seen him play, so I'm probably being a bit harsh. If he comes in as third choice and scores ten league goals next season then I'll be happy with that.

            One of my (many) Burnley season ticket mates just messaged me;

"Any Burnley fan that doesn't rate him is based purely on the fact he wanted to go to a bigger club. If given game time he'll be in the England squad within the season. He's class and a far better option than Lambert and Borini for you."

Not sure I agree with that, it's only the 8th June, the seasons only just finished. If it was the 8th August i'd agree with you.

The season is barely over, league finished a couple of weeks ago, CL final was on saturday, players have been at international meet ups, I'd say we have barely wasted any time sewing these deals up. Most clubs haven't signed anyone yet, it looks like we have 2 deals already done. We now have all summer to focus on the players we really need to bring in.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Maybe he is, but given that we never saw any of our current back up strikers used on even a semi regular basis it is difficult to say.

Borini's stats for Sunderland are very similar to Ings' stats for Burnley last season, and Aspas never really got any sort of run out but seems to have done alright for Sevilla.

If Ings gets used as sparingly as those guys did, then we run the risk of having yet another back up striker brought in simply to make up the numbers.

Ings appears to have qualities that suggest he would be a handy stand in for us, but a big question would have to be can he turn it on when only getting the odd game here and there.

Borini for all the criticism he gets looks to have many of the same qualities that Ings has so if we start next season with some or all of last season's back up strikers still at the club on top of Ings and Origi then I would have to wonder if we are going to end up in a situation like last season just with more guys standing around doing nothing.

But a big plus has to be that we are getting deals sorted early and hopefully we will have the bulk of our signings done by early July.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

This is the problem now, there's almost an inevitability around the club these days that our best players will depart. Its just a matter of how long we can keep hold of them now.

At least until fairly recently we could attract some good replacements, but that's getting more difficult as each season goes by.

I've not seen enough of him to know, but I suppose he could be a good signing. Pretty low risk, so we shall see.

From Suarez to Ings in twelve months.

                          Inspiring stuff.

In what way is Ings the replacement for Suarez? He is in for Lambert, Origi is in for Borini and X yet to be signed superstar is in for Balotelli.

Welcome to Liverpool - Danny Ings [Subject to Medical]

No comment or judgements by me at the moment. These 2 free signings need to be supplemented with real quality which is something we are extremely low in apart from Coutinho. Let's see what the rest of the summer holds...

Who said he was a direct replacement?

Origi is ****. Proper headless chicken is the lad. Runs fast and that's about it.

We are not signing a 'superstar' you're deluding yourself if you think we are.
