I wanted him badly earlier in the season. He allegedly rejected us, as we offered him a trial to prove his fitness, yet Man Utd allowed him to train with them to prove himself before deciding to offer a contract. Of course Valdes knows Van Gaal, but he'd have got more games with us.

Clubs a joke. Saw Barrett mention on the Rattle during last season that he didn't even want mega wages.

Really? A young English striker is signing knowing he won't play much? I'd like to think and hope that if his performances merit it, he gets games. Surely that is the way it should be? With sturridge injured a lot, I think Ings will get plenty of games even if the majority is as sub.

I don't think that was the intention for the two highlighted players (although with Balotelli there may have been a manager/other people disconnect there). Last summer was a very poorly managed transition. I think this summer should be easier in some ways. The signings we have made so far solve obvious absences in the squad, now we need to deal with the two main problems:
          1. Lack of reliable first choice goalscorer
          2. **** defense

I think the latter may end up being solved over preseason as new coaches look at the players we have and identify a better path for the future. We have defenders with ability and or potential on the books we mostly need to get the blend right and the link to midfield.

For whatever reason big striker signings seem to always go to the wire. The transfer window has only just opened really. Criticizing the club for doing the type of deals you can wrap up early, early seems daft.

If this is all we get then all the criticism will be warranted but for now I think patience is needed.

Who is going to be our forward when Sturridge is inevitably injured again??

I think we're going to buy one. Or rather, I think we're going to try ....but we'll probably **** it up again.

Also - and I know it's easy to be pessimistic about Sturridge - but the club believe they've finally got to the bottom of his problems with his latest op. He will play a lot more than he has been doing.

I've no idea where you guys are getting it from that Ings isn't going to start in the league. Of course he is, it's not like we have an abundance of decent strikers.

It will be Ings and Sturridge up top from the start of the season I've not doubts about that, even more so if we don't bring in another forward which could well be the case.

                    Oh and Welcome Bogdan.

You forgot Moreno and Can. Moreno and Marko were hardly cheap and neither should be sitting on the bench. Can at his price could go either way. He might do well like Coutinho or he might not. Time will tell.

Well he wasn't fit to play

Seriously though he'll be on over 100k/w and missed most of his last season ****ed, only came back part way through this season for United too.

Sergio Romero is available on a free this summer. Easily good enough to compete with Mignolet but is also coming off of the back of being loaned out to Monaco where he was used as a back up keeper.

Very aggressive at times in his style of keeping, and has been the keeper for Argentina for the past five or six years so has experience of playing at a high level.

Plus he has the sort of reach that would keep Bob happy

Don't be ridiculous Jaco, he's hasn't played in England before or had stormer once. He's clearly not for us.
